Posts: 742 North Orange County CA | Or why I didn't get the airhorn on the Vision again.....
I'm thinking about changing my handle to really_really_stupid2010.
It's Saturday, the wife and I just got back from another tradeshow in Las Vegas, (why are they always in las Vegas?). I want to kick back a bit, but the project list looks like this (see below) and it isn't getting any smaller.
Install Air horn on Vision
Clean Storage Shed
Hang Gutters
Remove carpet from youngest daughters room , which between the spilled nail polish, makeup, and other indeterminate stains looks like prop from a CSI episode.
Fix earthquake induced cracks in plaster walls daughter's bed room. At least i think they're earthquake induced - I suppose it could be the bass from the hip hop music that used to reverberate down the hall while she lived here.
Arrival of small dumpster (ordered by wife) and weather forecast predicting rain the rest of the week pretty much sets the project priority.
Carpet
Shed
Gutters
Airhorn
Cracks - those I can do anytime.
Things are going pretty good! It's mid afternoon and looks as if I'm going to get to installing that airhorn today after all .
The shed is clean, the carpet is removed. I've even scraped open the cracks in the walls in prep for tape and patching. The dumpster has just enough room for the scraps left over from the guttering job that I'm working on at the moment. All I have left to do is pop rivet and seal the gutter joints and I'm off to the garage for a little alone time with the Vision.
Then I have what is probably the first in a long list of senior moments that I have the pleasure of looking forward to the rest of my life.
I goes without saying that it is considered BAD form to place your hand behind anything into which you are drilling a hole. Half a gutter system done ( and done well, I must say), and that's exactly what I do.
Did you know that a 1/8" tungsten carbide drill bit rotating at 4000 rpm can poke a hole clean through a finger before you can say, "expletive deleted" ? I'll bet you did!
Anyway, I guess the Airhorn will have to wait till next weekend cause i blew the last one. It may take a while longer to get back to the guitar.

Thanks for the good wishes. It will probably take longer for my self-esteem to heal than my finger. |

| When I was a drilling instructed and covered safety, one of the number one things was NOT to put your left hand on the bulkhead while drilling through it. Many people have done it. I know how you feel. I think there was a bird in the gutter that bit your finger.... O.o
Heal quick |

Tom: that photo pretty much portrays what a 1/8 drill bit feels like for that split second when the message finally reaches the brain ; and its damn funny; laughter really is the best medicine.
Paul: I think you're right, it look like it is a perfect time to apply myself to some classic lowell george /paul barrere - but a craftsman socket is not in the cards, way too heavy for me. I'm thinking a little cabernet and then knock the top off the bottle.
Think I'll work on "Fat man in the bathtub" , two slides more fun..........

| Since you already have a hole in your finger, why don't you put it to use?

Heal fast.
I once drove a phillips driver bit into that meaty chunck between my thumb and forefinger. Probably the 1/8 inch drill bit would have done a neater job. |
