HELP - I picked up my Vision Street Premium from the shipper today in Milwaukee. Fuel light came on as it idled in the parking lot so I went across the street to fill it up. Gas cap came off hard, filled it up and when I went to replace the cap I looked at the underside to check for alignment - the plastic tabs were sheared almost off and one of the formed lips on the steel flange was mashed down. Took a pair of pliers and tried to get it good enough to install the cap but no luck. I need to know what I have for options. I called A+ Power Sports in Elkhorn and ordered a new fuel cap. Kevin, Barb, Nikki and the rest of the staff put customer service first and it shows. I was thinking of making a brass dolly/form to mount on a handle to keep from dropping it in the tank sliding it under into the lip and bumping the stamped lip around with another piece of brass (sparks) until the new gas cap fits. Any other ideas? By the way I did not rest the fuel nozzle on the lip as I filled up, I held it up with both hands. Had seen the threads about deforming the lip. This whole area is not a very robust design in my book. How much is a new tank half? If I need to end up replacing this tank I will section out the neck area and weld or braze in a more robust spout. Also, not looked at the Service Manual I purchased from Billy the Kid but is the Vision fuel system sealed like newer cars. I am running out of riding weather and would like to put a few miles on even if it means making a plug or something else to ride until the salt flys. The Vision sounds bitchin and is a whole different ride than my 03 TCD, from Caddy to Stagecoach in the ride dept. Thinking the TCD (Hotrod) would keep up but after about 115 mph or so the Vision (Twister) would pull away (longer legs).

Ride hard, ride fast but above all, ride safe....

What year is your bike? Did you buy it second hand? Did the shipper remove the fuel to ship? Hope you filed a claim with the shipper just in case.
The only problem I have had with my filler is sometimes it doesn't seem to want to thread on properly the first time. I figure it's the heat and the metal tank and plastic cap have expanded at different rates.
Good luck and keep us posted.

This happend to me too. They make a gas cap for the 08's that works as a fix. your dealer should already know this. If you get lazy filling your tank and lay the hose down it will do 2 things. Chip the paint and bend the tank cover. But if you lean the hose down on almost any bike it will bend the tank fill cup. I hope this helps.

A little alky fuel keeps me kool, calmand collected. Looking to ride one way or the other but not both. Thanks for the suggestion and your comments. A little inner tube will seal this huge gas leak and the mother sealed off will allow me to ride until hell won't have it, for now. Otherwise I will ride the buckboard (TCD) up to my ladies house this weekend. I am looking forward to riding the living hell out of this Vision but from what I am seeing, your all going to be chasing me. VV to my VV will be a test of balls, but we will wait and see. Let the RPM's roll, will take each case by case. If your TCD will not go 120 mph don't clog my run out of the Dells with your stuff Ride hard, ride fast but above all ride safe....

8-ball,

Have you had any engine work done? For what I see the best performance I recommend the stuff from Lloyd installed by Kevinx (Kevin Cross) or Vicbuilder (Rylan Vos).

For a sweet price you can get Cams, Fuel Controller, Air intake mod and a new computer that raises the Rev Limiter to over 6000 rpm.

Typical numbers are 106+ for HP and 108+ for torque.

Have fun!

Bought this VVSPC out of the Denver area. I am going to try to contact the original owner to find out what has been done. Sounds to me like Stage 1/Level 2 exhaust or aftermarket. Not having a heel shifter is making me a little crazy. I checked under the covers and don't see a fuel controller or any other mods so that will be my next purchase along with exhaust gaskets from Lloydz. Slight popping on down shift but not all the time. If it still does it I will tighten the rest of the exhaust and install a IAC along with the intake plate. Cams are in the future as everything I have read Lloydz are the best, we all know "Lloydz is hard on horsepower. I put his fuel controller and exhaust gaskets on my 03 TCD, along with some creative personal mods to the mufflers (Stage 2/Level 2.75) this is a H-D eating hot rod. Not stop light to stop light but throttle roll ons, they think I will not keep up. Nothing against H-D but it's sometimes the attitude of the riders that I like to put in check. Well like Fargo said, "Until the snow flies, ride on!"

Ride hard, ride fast but above all ride safe.....

GOOD NEWS - Got my new gas cap I ordered from A+ Power Sports and it went right on. Not sure why it fit but made my day. Looking like OK weather this weekend so I will be tearing it up out on the hiway. The weather is changing in WI. at a rapid rate so as I always say
Ride hard, ride fast, but above all - ride safe.......
