no satellite but I do have internet radio. I plug it into the aux cable in the left pocket and away I go. Between pandora.com and slacker.com they provide all the music I really care to listen to and it does not fade in and out like the XM does.

I have the stock Vic XM, so nothing to really see but the antenna on the dash. Not very happy with the quality of sound. If I could find a way, I would opt for the Garmin satellite radio with traffic services if that damn antenna puck wasn't so huge and I could control the stations thru my hand controls.

A friend of mine, who has a vegas 8-ball with a Corbin style fairing, does what a99miata does with his Blackberry (Pandora). It's not really satellite radio, but provides a similar experience (he has dropped in the country when he loses cell coverage).

I have the Zumo 550 GPS with XM on it. I mounted it to my dash and wired the output to my MP3 cord. It works very good. If I'm using the GPS it mutes the XM to give me directions. I ran the antenna under the dash and up under the windshield using a antenna extension cord. I can unhook it and use it in my car. I used 3M double sided tape to mount a magnetic plate on the dash. The zumo XM antenna has a magnetic base.

I guess this answer is geared more towards the "and if they are happy with it?" part of your question. I'm currently NOT using my sirius Sportster 5 that I used to mount on the console with a Ram Ball mount. It got to be too much of a pain in the ass to get together and then worry about when the weather started to get bad. I finally gave up on it and uninstalled everything but the puck. If you decide to use an aftermarket satellite radio, I would recommend NOT using the FM modulator and just using the headphone plug. The only problem is that I lost iPod capabiliy when I did this after I decided the FM modulator on the Vision's radio was worthless. Maybe on the newer models it is better since they fixed the radio reception problems. Either way, pulling over to change the modulator output frequency due to radio station bleed-through was a huge pain in the ass. I once tapped the audio pins of the iPod plug in an attempt to be able to have both iPod and headhone jack capabilities but the sound quality went to hell. So that doesn't work to well either (I was even gonna write up a how-to on this but the results SUCKED, so I didn't bother). Currently, I just bought the old iPod Nano that I leave plugged in. I have no intentions to update the iPod anytime soon since I only use it between times when having no FM reception becomes a problem. I tried the internet radio idea with the Slacker radio application and found it sucked too. Nothing relaxing about your radio sounding like it's being piped through a tunnel and/or the radio intermmittently dropping off as the phone switches towers. This has just been my experience. I would probably look into the stock unit if it were so damn pricey. Plus I would have to open an XM account in addition to my Sirius receievers...

I have the Sirius Starmate 5, and it works great. I have it on the ala carte plan which is ~$7 per month. It stays in the glove box and plugged into the radio through the AUX cord and powered from the outlet in the box, the antenna is on the dash. I can change channels just by opening the door and punching some of the pre programmed buttons. The sound quality is very good, the Starmate 5 has a higher audio output than some of the other Sirius units they offered. It has been in there almost a couple of years with no problems. I don't use Ipod anymore, but if I want to plug in my mp3, it can be done just by pulling out the AUX cord and switching. I have thought about getting a rain cover for the Starmate, and move out of the glovebox to a ram mount, but really didn't follow through.

+1 on the Starmate 5......I have mine on the console on the Sirius suction cup mount. Have used it this way for two+ years with no problems. The best part is........$99 at Best Buy.
