All of my settings are where KevinX put them except the idle, it was 3 but I had a mild lean surge in 3rd gear so I fattened it up a little. My milage ranges from 45mpg to 49mpg depending on how many "Hogs" I decide to dust off that day. Oh yea, I ride primarily from 5000 to 12000 ft altitude so Im sure the controller is leaning for barometric pressure as my milage is higher than most claim. BTW the baro-compensation is transparent so don't worry about hitting the mountains. paulhu

Posts: 132 Durango, Colorado | wroman - 2010-10-19 7:31 AM Paulhu, is the 45 - 49 MPG the readout on the trip computer or the milage calculated at the pump? Amazingly, those numbers are calculated from trip odo and pump volume. Of course its hard to fill to exactly the same level each time but I have done enough calcs to develop a solid adverage. The computer on the bike almost always reads above 50mpg. As mentioned above, I figure the elevated mpg's are a product of operating consistently at high elevations. I have seen no indications of the engine running in a lean cond. ie, plugs look good, header pipes not discoloring unduely and engine oil temps are lower than many others report. paulhu |
