| I agree. Apparantly 200k is a lot for bikes. Maybe because American's are used to harleys. |

Good point. Amsoil is really trying to hit the motorcycle market hard so they have harley articles all the time. |

However, it has been proven to cause clutch slippage on SOME bikes... No all, but some... just sayin' |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Uncannily I am finding Rotella 5w40 even more quieter than when using AMSOIL and no adverse effects, yet. I see the 5w helps with start up with no ticky-ticky noises. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I'm curious now, do you have personal knowledge of how many times it has been torn down Kevin? That's a significant piece in making a claim, but it would be no surprise if that was zero.
I'm over 83,000 miles and the motor is strong, does not use oil, leak or smoke. I see well over 100,000 on mine without ever going into the motor, but that is yet to be seen. |

Posts: 185 Rhode Island | The only difference I notice is with Vic oil the transmission really starts to clunk louder when shifting and neutral harder to find at about 1800 mile during hot weather, good to 3k oil change with Amsoil. Not so noticeable in colder spring and fall; can't say I notice the quieter motor but I only use the 10w40 not the 20w50.

Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | +1 Amsoil my 08 is quieter, smoother, cooler, and slips into Neutral much easier since i flushed and filled with Amsoil. Rotella is good but it doesnt bone up my ride it would be second place if Amsoil wasnt available |

you dont need 20w40, 10w40 would do just the same. as the w40 is whats important.. the number before the W is how it flows in cold temps... Im running 10w40 amsoil in my vision right now. my oil change interval is 5000 miles so i dont feel as bad about using a expensive oil compared to when my oil change interval was 2500 miles |

Use Rotella T6 on my 08 as well. Shifts much better. And no clutch slippage. |

| I think if you use motorcycle oil all is good. There is a shear factor between car oil and motorcycle. After reading some good oil articles they say the smaller the number before the W is the weight of the oil for start up. So 10 weight is thin and your piston slides threw it easier then 20 weight. But the difference is very small. 90% of rings and motor wear is at start up. Revving the motor is a NO NO cold or hot. When cold start ups and you rev your motor the piston skirts will score the cylinder walls. That means a loss of power over time.
Synthetic oil will keep your bike running cooler then conventional oil. |
