Posts: 28 Basehor, Ks. | Thought I would pass this on to other '08 Vision owners. The rubber boot between the throttle body tends to disintegrate and becomes 2 pieces instead of 1. Fortunately, when Rylan Vos was installing my cams at The Vic Shop he noticed this. He replaced this, which is not an easy job. Less popping, better mileage. Obviously it was leaking air. Allen |

Posts: 28 Basehor, Ks. | Rylan stated he has seen this on almost all the '08 Visions...It is a poorly made boot which apparently Victory rectified in '09 and on. Who knows where it was made, but my guess it wasn't the good old U.S. of A. I too was shocked that it turned to poop after only 2 years...shouldn't happen. Personally I think it should be a recall and/or a warranty item. Now try to get Polaris to fess up to it...get with Rylan(Vicbuilder to get more info). I'm just glad he caught it when I had him put cams in. Hope this doesn't get you too mad with Polaris....I think their QA dept. looked the other way on this so they could get the Vision out the door. | Is there a lot of ethanol in the gasoline where you live? I was suprised to find that the alcohol was so corrosive to aluminum in another application. Just wonder if this was a factor? Flex-fuel cars have a fuel system designed for higher alcohol content. |

Posts: 28 Basehor, Ks. | There is 10% ethanol in alot of the fuel around here(KC). However, I try to avoid it. I bought the bike with 14K on it. It was a Victory demo bike so no telling where it came from. If you look at the pic Rylan Vos posted(Vicbuilder) the aluminum should never be in contact with the fuel mix. There are 0 rings where the boot mates to the throttle body. Rylan believes it was a bad batch from the vendor and I tend to agree. Hope this helps. Major pain in the arse to replace that's for sure. |
