OK guys (and gals), here in the republik of Kalifornia the governator just signed SB 435, which will likely change the way motorcycle exhaust systems are tolerated by law enforcement agencies. Although the bill applies to bikes made after 2013, my thought is that all bikes may be affected somehow. Damn.

Here is my question... I am trying to determine how loud all of the avialable exhaust systems are at normal freeway speeds, given these parameters. If a stock system is a "1", and open header pipe, no diffuser would be a "10", approximately what would be the noise levels of various Vision exhaust systems. I currently have Ness Honkers w/diffuser, and my guesstimate is that they are about a "6". I am looking for only a relative number, from 1-10... your subjective opinion.

I am trying to figure out how loud (relative, scale 1-10) of the following pipes:

Polaris stage 1, level 1
Polaris stage 1, level 2
Atom Bombs w/2.25" core
RPW Double Vision
Cycledragon
D&D
CFR
Thunder Sticks
Ness Honkers
... and any others.

Also, if you have any issues or objections to your system, please let me know!

Thanks!

Mike (buddahead)

I would call S1L1 a 3-4 at highway speeds.

If that is the benchmark....then

I say that Stock is 2.5 to 3.5...and Stage 1 Level 2 is 3.4 to 4.5

Good thread!! it will be interesting to see the outcome! Im at S1L2 like the look but exploring the idea of a little more bark... Ild say the 4.5 about right with the Lloyds intake plate.

I guess you would have to get a meter to check noise levels. AMA has quiet the article on this noise thing. I heard it cover catalytic covers and and even cover trucks and lawnmowers I guess.
