OK, so I thought I had escaped this one, but looking over the bike this weekend I'm seeing moisture inside the bucket and the cracks along the top.

Has anyone got this replaced under extended warranty?

Any advice on dealing with the shop?

Take it in and find out... PolarisStar told my dealer it was a "wear item" and not covered... All I can say is BULL SHIT... I headlight blub is a wear item. Not the housing...

Another arguement to use is that they made a design change mid 09 model year because of the cracking... Best of luck!

The Polaristar extended warranty, section 4 Exclusions, specifically states head lamps and bulbs are not covered under the contract. With that, I would still show the dealer, he might be able to help... The contract states all the items it does not cover in section 4.
Also, if your displeased with the Polaristar warranty, you can cancel it and get a pro-rate refund minus a $25 processing fee.

I would like to see a pic where the cracking occurs. I would like to inspect mine and epoxy it in the right area as a pm to prevent the fogging.

I couldn't get pics because I'm not that talented.

But here is a thread with some great examples:

Mine is not quite as bad as the ones in the pictures - yet.

Saw the pics....I was expecting to see cracks in the front/rear seam along the top. Not multiple vertical cracks in the top front of the headlight. This type of crack(s) are not going to be easy to seal in a clean way. Kinda looks like stress fractures from the front lens being too thin.

Mine was starting to do that too...so I wrecked the bike and the insurance covered the light...$3000 in other repairs...and a few hundred in medical expenses. Oh, and they bought me a new helmet.

I wouldn't recommend this course of action though.

LOL Moose.

Yes, that is a drastic route to a repair if ever I heard one.

Hope you're doing okay.

Well - that is one way to get someone else to pay for it. I am thinking I will shell it out of my pocket first...
