Posts: 235 Kincardine, Ontario, Canada | I'm coming up to the 48,000 Kms (30,000 Miles) recommended belt change. The thing looks like new, no side wear, and no deterioration of the lugs.
How many of you have changed your belt and what did it cost? |

Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | The belt lists for $275 so that & a six pack would cover it. I ran the belt on my TC up close to 50,000 and changed it out during a new tire install and kept the old one as a spare. Your probably good at least till your next rear tire or more-your call |

Posts: 258 Akron, Ohio | I personally think belt replacement is a lot like tire replacement. Some folks will wear theres out quicker and some will go longer. I plan on checking mine often when I get to the suggested miles but not replaceing until I see that it needs it. With proper tension and cleaning, they should last a long time. |

Posts: 374 Tucson, AZ | 53K on mine, it the original belt, shows very little sign of wear. I check it for dry cracks alot, and all seems well.

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | I heard thats as well. Replace pully(s) as well as belt. I can't imagine what that total cost is... maybe close to a 4 digit number? From what I understand the new belt on a used pully could cause shorter life of the new belt? |

Posts: 482 Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | New drive pulleys would add $435 for a grand total of $710 including the belt-this is just a ballpark retail cost for parts only, add labor and it's a good chunk of change. I don't feel that pulleys are consumable items and will have to cross that bridge when I come to it-Brian |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Okay, that's fine, I don't consider it a consumable item either, I've got 38,000 on my second belt and the belt would have lasted longer in wear if the pully wasn't eating it up. There is a distinct wear pattern that was not there when I changed the first belt.

I was hoping to hear that Polaris has amended the change frequency based on unexpected longevity. No such luck Huh?
I'm going to run the belt for another 15,000 Kms, which will be when I'm due for another set of tires. I just don't see the need for replacing what appears to be a belt in perfect condition.

| when harley first came out with a belt they said 25 thousand and now they say 75 thousand I know guys with harleys that have over a 100 thousand and haven't changed belts. If you don't do dirt roads I would even think about it till 75 and thats what I plan on doing.
Keep your belt and pulley clean and you should be fine |

Posts: 432 Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | As I understand it the front pulley is harder material than the rear. So many mantainance recomendations from mfgr's are based on liability and not on real life issues. |
