Shortly after I got my 2009 VV premium I invested in an IPOD player and went thru all the stuff to get it to work properly (Scorsche charger, IPOD cable, etc.) I had an issue with it shutting off for apparently no reason at all. I read about the contacts corroding. I went to radio shack and bought a can of contact cleaner and lubricant and with the use of a cheap toothbrush cleaned the contacts on the connectors and solved my IPOD problems for quite awhile. When the problem starts up again I reclean and everything is OK for quite awhile.

On my way to Sturgis this year my IPOD messed up on the way and I bought a mini can of W-40, a cheap toothbrush and cleaned the contacts and never had a problem since.

Anyway, when I first got the Vision I listened to the radio before I got the IPOD. I had reception, at least for the local FM channel where I live. Later on after getting the IPOD, and having my first IPOD shut down, I got no reception at all. BUT - my concern was the IPOD not radio reception and I went to solve the IPOD problem.

Today, however, I was riding the Vision and thinking about the radio. Why don't I get any reception at all? I mean, why would they make a radio that can't get radio reception? So I went to Radio Schack to look at some antennas and then a car parts store and came to the conclusion I need to remove my radio to see what connectors are involved.

I went home pulled the access panel off and unhooked the antenna connector and thought maybe I should squirt some of the Radio Schack contact cleaner in both connector ends and try my radio again. I found a tiny model car paint brush and squirted the contact cleaner inside of both connectors and worked the paint brush back and forth in the holes, put it all back together and turned the ignition switch to the accessory position and put the radio to FM and - got reception!!!

When I got my Vision it pretty much came out of the box and I rode it home and had radio reception. Perhaps, there are folks who got a vision that was sitting around for awhile and when they tried the radio they got poor reception. My reason for posting is try to clean the contacts under the access panel, where you have to disconnect the antenna lead from the access panel and see if that helps you. It worked for me. It is nice to be able to turn on the FM radio and hear a station.
