Posts: 619 Southeast Iowa | How much oil do you put in the 106"? I know what it's supposed to hold but I can't seem to put more than 4 qt in without over filling it.
As far as the oil change goes...........yes I warm the bike up, yes I let it drain long enough, I use the correct size filter, stand the bike up level to check it, screw the dipstick all the way in, and use the Victory dipstick.
Are you getting more than 4qt in without over filling it? |

I also drain without the dipstick in. I also use the Mobil 1 M-110 filter and get a little better than 4 1/2 qts to the full line. |

I also drain without the dipstick in...on the side stand...and after if stops I stand it up for a minute or so and then put it back on the stand and push down on the left handlebar and that seems to get a little more out. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | I'm starting to agree with you done. If you have to ask about oil, just take it to the dealer, done deal, don't even ask what they put in it either, just take it back 2,500 miles later and let them do it again. Of course, when you get your 2011, take it for the 500 and then every 5,000 miles after that. It just ain't that difficult.
I'm using AMSOIL 20w50 right now, but I did that for my blow out west, and now that I'm back, I continued with 20w50. I think it is a little thick for the cooler weather, so I'm going back to 10w40 for the fall and winter and I'm thinking about using Rotella, just can't figure out which jug to get at Wal-Mart. Anyone....?

Now that you mention it...
I am thinking of switching a semi-syn, since that it what Vic oil is and Castrol has some new V-Twin oil...running Mobil1 V-Twin right now, 20w50, since it stays fairly warm here...but would a full syn drain more than a semi-syn when changing? Haven't used Rotella...is it better than Lucas?

i dont know alot about lucas other than what i read on the oil forums. is it rated for a motorcycle? the rotella t6 5w40 IS rated for motorcycle use and for 4qts you can get it from walmart for $19 jug. of course you need more than 4qts. but thats a sweet deal and it is a Synth oil. not a blend. so far in my vision the rotella is working really nicely. what i mean is, the tranmission is not notchy so far. and i havent used any oil |
