| Well i have been riding bikes since i was 12 and never thought i would say this. Was in Helen Ga. with my wife and caught a stop sign on the top of a hill slanted to the right. I am pretty strong but needless to say the bike at 1000 lbs 40 degrees with wifee on back see ya... LOL. First time, Second Helen lol yes again rock parking lot slipped on foot hold and yes there we go. Very Embarrasing... This is the first bike i have ever dropped let alone twice.. Is it me... Well any way thats how it goes but i Want to Thank the Guy who Invented the tip over Protection He is THE MAN>>>> It is the Best Thing I Have Ever Seen on a Bike That Feature was Worth Every Penny of 17000. So a Fool Like me can still Come out Cool. lol... Any one else Have These problems |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | I should put something on denim vest for the three times I dropped my Vision. I was thinking about slant marks like /// on the right side over the pocket.
Mine were: Twice on unlevel ground at a stop sign and one in a parking lot (too much front brake).
That was all last year before I took the Experienced Riders Course and some extra practice in the MSF box. So....
I really recommend taking the course to every one out there!

| Never lost control myself. But had a stupid cager back into my baby parked sitting in a parking lot waiting to pay for wifes car repair. She hit the bumper trim hard enough to push the bike at least a foot forward and off the the stand. The worst part I was standing about 40 feet away and thought to myself she's not that stupid and going to hit me all I could do was stair in shock and yell STOP too late.
All the damage she did was about a 3 inch scratch on the bumper from her fender. I took it to the dealer and had it checked and quoted for a whole new piece and a new lid cause the old one was sitting on the seat. Lucky for me only cosmetic damage. That is one tough bike and thank you for tip over protection. The cager paid out in cash for thew dealers estimate approx $350 with no hesitation after I told her if it had been HD the damage could have been 10 times as much. I have even more respect for the designers and a brand new lid. |

Posts: 172 Prescott, Az | I may hold the record. In the first several months I owned mine I dropped it 5 times! None were while moving. I had, yes-HAD, a habit of holding the front brake while creeping forward. The worst time was in Ouray, Co. during a rainstorm while edging out on a severly crowned street. It took three of us to right it. It's been a year now and no more drops. |

Personally, I find gravel surfaces to be a real challenge when putting your feet down. |

Posts: 447 Cleveland, GA | How about with the wife in the big parking lot at Deal's Gap? In front of about 200 people who have been gawking at the Vision because it was early on and none of them had ever seen one before? Talk about embarrassing... |

Posts: 432 Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | Fortunatly I owned a BMW K1200LT before the VV. The KLT has the worst record in the drowwing dept. They have a club 'Droppers Anonymous.' I never dropped mine but that bike is unstale at any speed below 10 MPH, actually sold it because of that. The Vision by comparison always feels stable even when I should be a little more cautious. |

| Dumped once while parking at the dealer.
Hit a small area of sand while walking the bike back in parking spot.
About a dozen people came out from the dealers front door to make sure I was okay.
Small tear in elbow of riding jacket.........$10.00
Damage to Vision after falling on tipovers............$0.00
Seeing a big fat guy rolling on the ground..........Priceless. |

Posts: 323 Troy, NY | The tipovers are the best. After riding for about 80 mph in virginia on a long trip, I went to get gas and wasn't used to riding 5 mph I stopped quicker than wanted and tipped her with the wife on. All was good though! |

Walter is right...nothing comes close to the BMW LT for drops...terrible top heavy. Slow speed maneuvering on the LT put pucker in the sphincter every time....love the VV slow speed.
RECOMMENDATION:
Put down some cloth in your garage and try to lay the Vision on the tips....and then try to pick it up yourself. Do this on both sides because you never know which way it will go down some day. I could barely manage my LT on flat ground...no chance on gravel or an incline working against you. If you want to know the best techniques for doing this...again the BMW blog site has LOTS of discussion on this topic.
So be ready to break the ice to a perfect stranger and swallow some pride and ask for a quick hand...great way to meet chicks....BIG ONES!

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | Here is a Video where I work on the Vision while on its tipovers and then pick it up.
Please feel free to critique my Vision Lift technique starting at 3 Minutes 52 seconds.
1. Check to make sure you are in gear!
2. Press your lower back into the side of the seat while grasping the rear grab handle and the handle bar.
3. If the Vision is on the right side put down the kick stand. If it is not you have to put it down after you lift the Vision.
4. Check to make sure you are in gear again!
5. Lift with your legs and you legs only! Your arms should be used for control not lifting. So, Relax you arms!!!
Here watch the fat guy do it!

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | For anyone who might think that the tipovers are a gimmick. Here is a very graphic video from September 2009 of a member here sliding on his tipovers in the rocks at speed. The Vision never went all of the way over.
Here is a thread that covers the event from end to end....people give their well wishes and opinions plus Spock tells what occurred from the riders point of view.

Posts: 137 Houston, Texas | I have dropped the STARSHIP twice.....both times in a parking lot thinking I had the kickstand down....that little nub on the end of the kickstand is NOT rider friendly.
And the tipovers worked as designed....the first time was at a crowded biker bar about a week after i took delivery and I explained it away as a demonstration of the tipover feature.
Last week I found and installed a kickstand extension and now there is no question when you have engaged the kickstand.

I made the oil pressure switch change video to see if I could change one out on the road. The answer is yes.
I was thinking that we had some new members here that have not seen this West Texas video.
Spock and his Vision have both fully recovered. Here is a thread to read that covers the subject from start to finish.

| I actually watched the tipover video before buying my Vision and the steps they tell you by design are the only and easiest way to get it up... Very Easy if you follow the steps by Design. |
