Iron Butt
Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | When you open or fold out the air deflectors it diverts the air out and down, so it stands to reason that you would feel more air hit your legs underneath. When your uppers are closed (pushed toward the fairing side panel), the airflow flows past the front of the fairing and evenly
distributes the incoming air all the way down the side. I think what you may also be feeling is that when they are folded in, the air flow is
evenly distributed so its not that noticeable as when they are folded out and the rush of air is re-directed, that air becomes more noticeable
from below. (Like the turbulence effect on an airplane wing, air that is re-directed has a higher velocity because of the re-direction depending on its deflecting angle). Not sure this helps you, but there is your useless 2 minutes of physics 101 LOL
All of the above can be discounted if you are riding your bike with your feet up on the gas tank, or you are facing backwards. If the latter is the case, then it would suggest that you have more issues at hand, then wind direction LOL |
