Posts: 33 Between Rockford and Sterling Illinois | Well it was short but enjoyabale. First things I noticed on the interstate was some wind buffeting from the big trucks and cross wind. (Top trunk on the bike) Not used to this bike yet or having the familiararity of my other ride I'll just say it is different than my VTX (46,000 mi.). When I relax on it more I'm sure it will be less noticeable. Cornering and lane changes were a suprise and better than I expected. I'll just say great and finding the limits will be interesting. Pretty uncruiser like handling, more sporty than expected.
Riding position was great, so many places for the feet. Some fine tuning of the gear and brake controls and this department is first class.
Having no miles except the factory run on the odometer the engine was pretty tight at first (I like that) and at the end of the first 65 miles was noticeably less, with a throttle blip jumping up the RPM at a livelier pace. Loaded and unloaded the engine frequently, getting as many heat cycles as was practicle and mostly legal. Under 65 and definitely 60 5th gear seemed the place to be. Out on the big road you are going to love 6th. I may change my thoughts on this as the motor and gear train break in and free up a little more.
I have the stage 1 exhaust, K&N filter and factory reflash. At first being used to the Roadhouse exhaust on my VTX1800C I was wanting a little more music from the pipes. After the ride the stage 1 is just right. Radio was great for a bike compared to the Street Glide and Ultra's I have rode and with the trunk speakers almost headphone like.
Low speed handling, no trouble turning around on the two lane and I haven't yet tail braked it to tighten up my turns. As I get comfortable with its handling I think it will suprise a few wingers and glide riders in the parking lots.
We'll try another 60 to 100 miles tonight and see what my thoughts are. SO GLAD it is finally warming up here in northern Illinois. Oh yeah almost forgot, heated seat and grips.....GREAT! |

I'm sooooo glad you guys are finally getting a break in old man winter. Now you can enjoy your rides and all of the stuff that goes along with riding such a fine motorcycle. Have fun! Oh, and be careful, you haven't been on these bad boys for a while and all the cages haven't seen you for a while, you know they aren't looking.

Posts: 354 20 miles west of Chicago. | Good on ya' Outback. I was able to my first ride in yesterday also. Only 20 miles, but a start. Gusty crosswinds did give a easy push to the side opposite the wind direction, no doubt due to the trunk, and easy to compensate for. Took the Kingpin out for a 20 mile scoot first, and did not notice any wind movement, maybe just used to it on that bike. I've got a trim panel or something in the upper front vibrating and buzzing at low speed, should be able to track down and fix that. Second stop light I came to, I must have blipped the throttle between down shifts, and sure enough, the engine died. Did a rolling restart, and from then on just coasted to stops, no problem. Figure either a TPS/ECU problem that needs tweaking, or as someone had pointed out the rubber intake boots need to be tightened. I hope it's that simple, that one could present a hazardous situation under the wrong conditions. The blurry strip on the top edge of the windshield was a PITA; had to adjust to see above or below it. Other than that, great handling, comfortable, adequate power (Took it easy for break-in..). The temp here just hit 39 F. I've got the long-handles on and am getting ready to hit the road again; just the Vision today, want to get those first 500 done before the riding season gets into full swing. |

Posts: 185 Nebraska | It got up to 65 yesterday. Put on around 70 mi. after work. The extra daylight is great. 70 today. I have had this thing since Oct. its got a little over 3K on it. And I still feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. |

Put on a hundred this afternoon. Motor seems to be smoothing out a little. A little unerving though; pulling up to stop sign, downshifted to second withinn proper RPM range, and as I let out the clutch lever the engine died again. Rolling restart, but doing that caused me to roll through the stop sign. No other traffic, but this is not good.
Mine would do that before the Regulator change. No problem now. You better get it checked out. |

Don't blip, see if it make a difference. If you like to blip, do it longer, more of a roar, and don't crash the throttle. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Mudge, I just want to say I'm glad I'm not alone, but wish I was on this issue. However, after about 3 trips to the dealer, the last 7,500 service, they cleaned the plugs which were fairly carboned up and it appears the problem has gone away. The previous trip they reflashed, for the second time, but it didn't seem to make a difference. But this last trip, bingo, fixed. The tech said that my bike seems to be running rich, which dispells the lean theory. However, with the closed-loop anything is possible. If it continues to run as well as it does now, S1L1 are next on the shopping list. Hope this helps toward a solution.

Mudge, I have to admit that happen to me about 3 times in the past. I never threw that one in in any of my post because to me it is related to coming to a stop and it shutting off. Clutch lever in, rolled off the throttle, engine dies. I've not experience that since the last service, so you may find that you have identified the problem conditions that may correct if for anyone else in the future. Clean plugs, clean air filter, and possibly get your dealer to do a stock reflash. Keeping in mind the only ones to complain of this problem is those running stock pipes. |

Posts: 10 Prince George County Va | Hope mine is also an oddity but my bike came from the dealer with the level one pipes and I had my first and only flame out last week. This happened three days after my 500 mile check up, 47 degrees out, engine fully warmed up and 45 MPH in (slow) traffic. I shifted from 4th to 3rd with a very slight twist of the throttle for a stop light, then nothing - quite unexpected. I hit the starter and went on my way without another problem. Mine has also backfired through the air box a few times but never died. Just another perspective on this engine cutting out issue. Glad to see to the northeners finally able to get their smiles on. Posts: 354 20 miles west of Chicago. | Mine is stage 1, level 1, and it happened several times. Tried Tex's fix (Thanks again..) pulled the plugs. They were pretty carboned up except on the back or bottom part of the electrodes which was a nice healthy tan. Leads me to believe that several start-ups without actually riding by both me and the dealer got the plugs fouled, but normal riding isn't doing it. Cleaned the plugs with a toothbrush and "Carbon Clean" and a bit of fine abrasive paper, then washed them well in alcohol to get the oily residue and grit off. The problem seems to have stopped, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that was it. WHen I have a chance I might just throw a new set of plugs in just to make sure. Anybody having the problem might want to try this before going to something more time consuming and expensive. Might also be a good idea to not start up the motor unless you're going to ride it long enough to burn the crap off the plugs. |

Ouch. When I first complained of this problem on the VMC and on here it was like I was the only one this was happening too and I was some sort of klutz. It seems though that is common on this engine regardless of set up. I'm hoping that Victory will get to the bottom of the problem and get it fixed. I was convinced that the S1L1 would solve the issue, but this shed new light.

Finally got my first real ride in only about 60 miles, I was a little reluctant since we have not had a good rain to wash the salt away but the sunshine and mid 40 how could I not go.
I did not have any stall on my ride though I do not usually blip the throttle when I ride. Hardest part of course was not opening it up.
I have no noticeable distortion on my windshield
I have the trunk off so with only the 2 front speakers the music was loud enough for me.
Reception is hard to tell since I live between most signals and always need to search for a station. The ones I did get were clear though.
Almost forgot since my test ride how sweet this bike handles the curves compared to my Ultra though I did try to heel shift a few times, like some have said its almost like you think it and it goes, cant wait to crank it up a little through some twisty's.
It was nice with the heated grips and seat though with my gloves I did have trouble reaching back to turn off the seat since even on low my a-- was getting to warm.
Oh and thanks for putting up with my pleading for you all to send us some warm weather.
