Posts: 215 orrick, mo | Its amazing how quiet the Vision is going down the road when the f***ing dash isn't rattling. I hope this time the fix last longer. Usually I just crank the tunes to cover the rattling but there are times I like to just shut the tunes down and just enjoy a nice quiet ride. I'm trying foam strips between the dash pieces but it seems to be only a temporary fix. I'm open to suggestions on a more permant fix though.
Lets hear what you've done to quiet the beast and thanks in advance. |

Posts: 48 Simpsonville, SC | I had the dash rattles, actually it was a buzzing at about 2,200 rpms. Yesterday, the dealer tech took the dash completely apart and put foam strips around the key holder and between multiple contact points for the metal dash piece and the black plastic piece and between the assembly of the two and where the assembly contacts the bike, buzzing gone so far. It was really annoying. I also have trunk rattle and buzzing, the tech put the rubber buggy bumpers fix on near the latch and foam strips between a bunch of plastic on plastic contact points, but still have one more buzz to eliminate. Off to home depot today to get some foam tape and fix it myself. He said the bags can be another source of rattles, but I haven't noticed that so far.

| I have used the small felt stick on pads about 1/4 inch in dia.. stick them to the sides and top of the aluminum bezel under the dash where they contact each other. Cheap and long lasting fix |

Also noticed when I went Darkside ride smoothed out a bit and helped as well.

Posts: 374 Tucson, AZ | I found my dash rattle was the black plastic trim piece around the keyhole. I was able to slip a rubber gasket under it and no more rattle. I cant say how many time I hunted for that rattle and while ride would put my hand here and there to try to isolate it.....reckon I got lucky one time and has been quiet since. And yes the trunk is another story...but I will live with it.

Posts: 48 Simpsonville, SC | Well, the weather stripping did the trick. The trunk is rattle free! What a PITA! Basically took the whole think apart and put little pieces of weather stripping between where any two pieces of plastic could contact each other. The dealer had already installed the rubber things by the latches and had installed some weather stripping, I just added a lot more. Between silencing the trunk and getting the buzz out of the dash, it has really made for a quieter ride, now can enjoy the radio at reasonable volumes. |

Posts: 215 orrick, mo | Dash still a pita. I've tried everything I can think of and I still have a rattling dash. It's getting awful tempting to just drill holes and screw the dash down. Sometimes it is so bad I can hear it with the stereo cranked.
I will not give up. Some day I will find the majic combo and have a quite dash. Until then I just keep tweaking away at it. |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | bobw - for your rattling lift arms for the windshield. Remove the front cover metallic trim and lube the two arms the lift mechanism rides on. Smooths right out and you'll wonder why you didn't do it before. I did it once and possible I need to do it again three years later. |
