| It's been going on for a while, the typical Vic will start in neutral just by pushing the start button, my Vision most often requires that I bump the clutch lever while pushing the start button, then occasionally nothing happens until I jump the solenoid....... Funny thing, sometimes I can hear a clicking sound coming from the solenoid when I bump the start button then bump the clutch and it starts right up.
Any ideas?
Expert opinions only please. |

What are you getting at Kevin ??
Just went out to mine to confirm. I think he is referring to the safety interlock switch that keeps it from starting in gear. It may need adjustment or something. If it "thinks" it's in gear, the clutch lever must be squeezed in order to start. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | mine has done it for the last 10,000 miles or so, I have to pull in the clutch even if the light and indicator says N. If I bump the button enough though it will eventually engage. With the clutch in, it always starts. |

At 13,000 miles my 09 Vision started having similar behavior. A difference is that if the starter solenoid doesn't engage by the second press of the starter button, I have to pull in the clutch lever. The starter solenoid works everytime I pull in the clutch lever.
I'm not sure how to go about correcting the problem with the transmission neutral switch; so I live with the annoyance and know how to jump across the contacts on the starter solenoid if I have to.

What does the green N light on your dash do??
The green N stays on...... I wouldn't care if pulling the clutch lever worked every time but sometimes it does nothing, was wondering if it could be dirty contacts in the clutch safety switch.

Just checking the basics. The N and clutch switch both share the same ground path |
