Stopped for a pit stop on my ride today and when I went to lock the handle bars something happened!! No noise, no click, no abnormal feelings, but somethng broke and I was stranded. I can't move the key anymore and have no connection. (At one point the key moved to the on position but felt really lose and there was no connection) Anyone ever had this happen to them?? Cost me $215.00 to have it towed home 30 miles.

I have never felt comfortable with the front end lock. I only use when I have to. It just never feels quite right to me. There are times the only way I can get the key to turn on is to push it down till the lock moves down and then it will turn on. My second key I have to fiddle to too much to use everyday.
Let us know how you make out. Yeah, towing ain't cheap anymore. Hopefully the guy did drop quick release the straps on one side and have the bike go over like last year at Sturgis on me.

Got my bike back today!! They had to replace the entire ignition switch as well as everything else that is keyed since it is now a new key!! So it took 1 week for the part to come in. There was no charge at all on this procedure. Just got back form a nice ride, warm and sunny, T storm on thew way!! Happy and safe riding!!

great! many more happy miles. I didn't do much with mine until a few months ago, I sprayed with dry lubricant (???) works great now, before it felt a little sticky and hit-n-miss.

Broke - needs to be replaced, happened to me and I had to get home. You can temporarily fix it by pulling the switch out and justing a screw driver to turn it on and off.  As simple as pulling the console and the switch off and then take the wired part off and toss the rest.  I did that for about 3 months until I got a another switch from the dealer, he had it sitting on the shelf, new, off another bike that had a trunk put on, thus requiring a full rekey.

#1 I really get up set with post that don't list there year or even where they live. Hell I could have been a mile away and could of come over and helped.

I spray WD40 in maybe three times a year. If you take your dash off it looks like there is a flat spot on the key switch where screws hold the plate in place. From other post there are some plastic peaces in there that just wear out.

I may have took pictures before of my switch failure.  I feel the design is a little flawed and prone to failure under heavy use.  The switch is a tower and there is a series of activators to open the fuel door or lock the steering and the glove box.  At the end of it all is just a simple plastic switch that has 4 positions; locked, unlocked, run, and accessories.  If anything breaks or jams inbetween, then you can't move the switch to its various position.  The material is a cast-pock and can stress and break easily.  I don't know what the solution is, and the majority of the folks may never experience a failure.

I've only had my Vision for about three weeks, so I'm still learning what's normal or not. My steering lock feels like its hard to lock and unlock, but will click into position. Most other bikes I've had the steering lock has been smooth with no hard click. Is this the normal action for the VV or is it binding? Like modt others, I really only use it to lock the glovebox.

Ive had two visions. '08 and '12. Didn't kno
w the steering or glove box could be locked . Seen more guys dump there bikes from locked forks then getting them stolen. Keep my spare key in the glove box. Non vision riders don't even know the box is there. And I'm way more likely to lose a key 2k from home then losing the bike.

Drove down south to Bellingham today. I stopped at a Gas Station to fill up for the trip home. Shut of the ignition - turned the key to open the gas cap and ... nothing. Tried again. Tried to turn ON the ignition ... nothing. Tried to lock the steering ... nothing. So I phoned Skagit Polaris and talked to Dan. He'd never heard of this problem, didn't have a spare ignition, and was too busy to come to Bellingham to assist.

Day was getting late - so I phoned AAA and they sent a truck to get me and take us and the bike to the Border. Then we had to wait 2 more hours in the cold for a truck from the Canadian side to come and get us. Got home finally at 9:30pm and put the bike away. My BCAA membership paid for all ...

Now I have to make sure MY dealer has the part - and then have the bike trucked out 1 hour drive to my guy to have it installed. Just a f**king marvelous day. Oh well, at least it's winter, and I won't miss much riding because of this. I remembered this post - so I will be sure my Dealer reads every frickin' word before he thinks of charging me.

I have an 08 which I just purchased in Dec of 2012 . The lock position on mine seemed a little funky to me also. I tried it 2x and did not like the way it felt so I purchased a disk lock instead. Two years ago I used to think who in thier right mind would want to buy/steal a bike that looks like a spaceship. After a demo ride I wanted to sell my Kingpin for the Vision.

I had the dealer look at the ignition in January and the head mechanic Matt said they sprayed some type of graphite spray to loosen things up. The ignition can be tough at times due to the ignition facing up and if it rains the water flows into the ignition. So keep it lubed up.

Hope this helps

Some correct me if I am wrong, but yes there was a recall on the 08 ignitions, but for the electrical plug falling off, not the steering lock issue.

I quit using the switch lock a couple years ago when it started feeling 'odd' (wobbly and chreap) as I turned it. A padlock on the front rotor does a great job

Bill - the 'switch' controls 3 things, right? If it's messing with your steering lock - it's also not handling it's other jobs - beware !

Your dealer - Skagit ... Dan denies all knowledge of issues with this problem - and has NO parts in stock to fix it if it happens. You might remind him of my problem next time you are in.

I will keep ALL of you informed about the resolution of my issue. Hopefully SOON !

Don,
Skagit Powersports almost denies being affiliated with VICTORY motorcycles, if you're not looking for a quad they almost won't talk to you and it's a damned long ride to Lynnwood to the dealer where I bought it.

It may have been a service bulletin rather than a "recall", but yes, there is something. My dealer called me about a month after I bought my bike (an '08--new) and said to come in whenever it was convenient. I did and they put a rubber wedge under the switch. It took about 15 minutes for them to do. I've not had any problems with mine so far. It would be worth asking your dealer about. If yours was never done, then it might be a warranty item. They can run your VIN and determine if the update was ever done.

NHTSA case # 08V131000 dated 03/14/2008.

Recently I has this problem, and my bike already had the upgrade/recall/service bulletin done several years ago. They ordered the SB parts again and did the same thing to it again and I have the 5 year extended warranty. It did make some improvement so I figured I've try my best to totally wear out this switch before 5 years is up so they have no choice but to put a new one in it! P.S. I also get free towing from the VRA membership so it'll just be a p.i.t.a when it does go out but shouldn't cost anything.

FYI - talked to the Service Manager at my dealer today - they ordered a complete lock-set so I will only need one key - new ignition, and locks for bags and trunk. All under extended warranty. AND they are coming to my house (an hours drive from the dealership) to pick up the bike - no charge! Gotta luv my guys !
