Hey All

We just ogt home from our Vegas trip of around 6K kms (approx 3728 miles) round trip. The ride down was uneventful, however, we quickly decided that leaving at "0 dark stupid" would be a great way to avoid peak hot driving times. It was a pain to have to get up so early, but really paid off at the end of the day as we would be off the road by noon time.

We got to Vegas and checked into our hotel. I took the bike to get us something to eat and my temp readout told me it was 120 deg F. It was hot and the roads areound Vegas were really greasey. After that I only made one other trip out and that was to visit Alren's shop. WHich was pretty cool to see not only the bikes that they have there but the cars as well. I also leaned that the new IPod cable that will power as well as play on vision is not for the 2009 ViVi. ANyway, as my mp3 player had crapped out on the way down I bought the regular cable, got an IPOD, loaded the music and have been wodering ever since :how I ever got along without this IPOD set-up in the first place"?

Vegas was interesting, got to tour around to the various casinos, etc, went to UFC 116, ran into a few of the fighters at MGM. It was something to see, but now that I have seen it, I do not feel a need to go back anytime soon. I would fly in to go to a fight or a poker tournament, but we did the tourist thing already.

From Vegas we went to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It was.... Majestic... I guess would be the word. From there we went to Momument Valley. For me this was very cool as I am a HUGE Old Western Movie fan. So it was very cool to see the rock formations. Of course the formations themselves are interesting.

We then went to and stayed a couple of days in Moab. All I can say that it appears to be a hidden treasue... awesome scenery, great places to explore.... We would definately make another trup there.

We then pretty much made our way back north to Vancouver Island.

I noticed a couple of other ViVi's but maybe only 2-3.

As this was my first longish trip in the ViVi it was pleasing to see how well she performed. I do have a couple of things that I need to work on.... For example, I will be researching another seat. |The ride down was not so bad but the ride up was getting really bad. I willl be also looking into highway pegs. And I also have to get another vent replaced so I think that Santa will be getting some chromed alum this year for me..... LOL

Anyway, just wanted to write a short note as we are only home for a day or 2 and then are fly to Newfoundland for a reunion with pboth set of parents and the whole community is coming home for.... Now you nderstand why we took the Vegas trip first... LOL

Good stuff, Gerry. I went to Seattle on the weekend - temp was 28-30 - nearly killed us Canucks (not used to that heat). Hwy 9 going north was good because the trees shade the highway much of the way, but I5 was brutal. Saw my first up close Vision rider on the way. Pulled him over for a chat - missed his name but he was from Everett area - and rolled his VV a few weeks back. The Mount Vernon dealer had him up and running in 2 weeks and $5,000 later. Same dealer put new tires on my VV for $525 on Friday (Sea-to-sky wanted almost $1,000).
Anyway, enjoyed your account of your trip. Don

Hey Don

Funny that you should mention tires... A funny Story... On the Friday that we left we stopped into Sea to Sky so I could get the bike a good looking over plus an oil change approx $285 worth of attention and I think that I still have a couple of issues, however I am planning on saving this for a separate post.

Anway, the mech that looked at the bike mentioned that I might want to watch my tires as they may or may not make the entire trip. My bike only had 10K kns on it and we were only planning a 6K kms trip. So I asked how many kms would I expect to get. He mentioned that 16K kms was pushing it. The other guy behind the service desk mentioned that he would be very ahppy to get 16K kms on his tires. So I asked how many he got and he said 3K kms on his tires..... Of course I asked and learned that he rides a crotch rocket.

Anyway, one of the other bikes on the trip was a Gold Wing and when I told him the story he and said that he had gotten 26K kms on his tires and the only reason that he he changes them was because he noticed an unusual wear pattern.

In anycase I will keep the guy in mind in Mount Vernon. Like I mentioned, I have a couple of other issues that I will be posting about.

Hope that you had a great trip as well. We are planning to do the sunshine circle latter in the summer sometime areound end of Aug beginning of Sept. Hopefully the temp will be a little cooler.

Take Care

Gerry - I had 20K on the tires - front was good for at least 5k more, rear was ok - but due. I noticed an immediate change in the handling - so I think rear was flattening out - still ok - but....
20k = 12k miles for those of you scratching your heads :>
