Posts: 203 Rapid City, SD | My only question is why do we care what he thinks? I know who he is but, so what? I just never understood the why his opinion matters to so many people. Maybe my question is a product of my overall feeling that as a society we care way too much about celebrities opinions.
If I saw someone famous walk by me, the most they would get would be a nod. They are no better than anyone else. I didn't need to seek out his opinion when I purchased my bike. Surely I don't need his approval after the fact either. (rant concluded) |

| So, are we inferring that since the quintessential American badass rides a Vision, that makes us badass? I don't know about you, I got a Vision to save my bad (broken) ass, not because I thought I was a badass.

I don't know about you, but Sonny was "on the fence" about buying one until he found out I owned a Vision....the rest is history. |

| You should see the reaction when an h d owner is breaking my chops about it not being an h d and i say "if it is good enough for sonny barger it is good enough for me." ends the conversation right there so i can get back to the business of breaking their chops about theirs not being a vision. |

That is funny right there. Although I have found out that many HD riders did not know who Sonny... |

Posts: 156 dinwiddie, va | I think some are looking a little too far into the badass thing, or that he may be a celebrity.... I believe most are referring to the humor in the light of things. Sonny Barger is the biggest name in HA. 99.99% ride HD. The highest one of them all rides a Vision. Does no one else see the irony!? FYI. He, or anyone else in HA is the last people I would want to trash or badmouth. IMHO...............Not afraid of them, we have a handful that have been coming to us for years, very nice guys. But you don't want to be on their bad sides. |

I think it's called respect! I worked at a gas station in NoVa as a teenager and there was a local chapter of the Pegans that would frequent to get gas. Never had a problem out of them and many seemed very humble, but as suggested no need to put them down.
But if I check the timeline, I think I got my Vision before Sonny got his...but I'm not implying anything. |

Posts: 496 Scottsdale AZ | When I started this thread my position was not to put Sonny on a platform to indicate "Hero Worshiping" or think he was a celebrity. I think Sonny is a "character", probably not like some of us as regulars in this forum, but we are all characters to some extend. His lifestyle and culture is one that has made him more visible and more well known than others. If I see an article of someone else, maybe one of you, in the press that might be the next post. Probably the point of Sonny riding a Vision, is the fact that as one of the most visible HA that you might think are HD guys, he chose a Vision. I have seen and visited with him at our local Vic dealership. The only thing Sonny and I have in common are the Vision, riding motorcycles and the dealership. He is an interesting "character". |

I wish I could have got down to meet you DJ when I was out your way going to Barstow. Meeting people is a fun thing to do, even for a moment. At one time I saw a pack of HD's about 8 or so and a black Vision on I-40W right after getting on at Williamson . At first thought I thought it would be Sonny with some HA, however, it was not their patch and second, the Vision still had the silver panels. But it was cool to see a Vision with all the HDs, riding in the middle.
I would like to meet and talk with Sonny because he is known to put over 100,000 miles on his bike in a years time, I'm sure he's got some stories to tell and some riding wisdom to share. |

Posts: 496 Scottsdale AZ | Likewise, I would like to meet up with you one day Vary. Not today though, maybe in cooler weather. Going to be 115 today. One of those type of days in your country in the winter where you stay inside. I followed your travels out West and could picture you on 1-40 in to Barstow. Been that part of the route many times.
Yes, Sonny is on the road 50% of the time or more. We would have to have several meetings with him to hear all the stories. There are some good ones! |

Posts: 99 Cold lake Alberta | Well said! I believe in one of his books he mentions the "HD only rule" for the Angels being..not a good rule.
Well the way I see things they have 3 American bikes to pick from if they want to keep that mind frame.
He's a character and his current liefestyle is interesting, up to feed his horses, 3 hr work out etc
Well done for anyone 71 or more.
Sonny outside of Sturgis last year..you know its him cause...he's on the Vision! LOL
