Guys, I am thinking of shifting to a Crossroads from my Vision! I know its blasphemy, but I am wanting simpler. I love my Vision, but the full on tourer is not ending up being what I want for now. At least the Crossroads has the same awesome powertrain! It may not even be until next year, but I believe it will happen soon. Any thoughts??-----Metalguy

The biggest thought is what is right for you. if the C-Roads will better fit your needs and style then it is a no brainer. Go for it, you would still be on a Victory. After all it is about how long the smile last after you finish the ride.

I would spend some time in the saddle first.  I found wind buffeting to be a real concern on the Cross Country.  Good Luck with your decision!

Haven't heard of anyone making the switch, but aside from a little less storage based on the X bikes bags, what about removing the trunk & installing the color-matched panel & ride it as a street for awhile. You basically have the same bike, with better weather protection, stereo, & the option to put the trunk back on if needed. The whole experiment will cost $100 +/- & you may find that fits the bill perfectly.

Metalguy, Thought you might like to hear from a crossroads owner. Also you should know that I have owned 3 victorys since 2000, and by far my crossroads is superior to them all. My crossroads has close to 5000miles on it. Just want you to know that your decision for what you want or need is and will be an outstanding one no matter which one you go with. This bike is great for me in that it has great power, the bags are larger and will hold more then the vision bags, a trunk can be added if wanted, the wind buffeting issue is extremely overrated, and it just looks better in my opinion. I looked at and rode the vision and cross country before I got the crossroads and didn't need the radio and liked the open feel of the crossroads. You just need to take a long look and decide which is best for you. You can't go wrong with any of these 3 bikes, afterall they are VICTORYS. GOOD LUCK and ride often!!!

I am guessing there is a specific reason why you are choosing the XR over the XC, but dollar-for-dollar the XC can't be beat....again, I'm sure you already have a reason why you are ruling that bike out.

On the Vision, I agree completely with the poster above who talked about taking the tour pack off the Vision. It makes it a completely different bike! I have the TP and it has spent less than 15 miles on my bike. I love the vision without it. Honestly, if I could not remove it I would have the XC.

The Vision is a big tour bike. It was big before and now it's even bigger after my cancer treatment. I took the trunk off and helped a lot. I like you have thought about switching but I waited 9 years for my tourer and she is a wonderful bike. This side short of 20,000 miles and she will be with till either her or I have to call it over.
Just do yourself a favor and take several test rides under different conditions. Not that it will change your mind but when you buy you will know what the bike will do. Way too many people buy a bike then find fault with it but it was that way when they bought it. I did 5 test rides on Visions before I was sure I could handle the big girl. Of course I couldn't do it without reverse.

i got to test ride a crosscountry when victory came to town a few months ago. i DID notice what people are talking about with buffiting.. you wouldnt notice it if you didnt own a vision and just came from a regular motorcycle with a windshield or without. I even had a friend that rides a fatboy get on the XC and vision and see if the buffeting was really there or not. and he said he noticed it right away jumping on the vision first and then the XC. he said he liked the electric windshield of the vision more so to control your air flow while riding. I did love the XC bags and radio. the handle bars in wind didnt feel as controlled as the visions.. could that be because of how the visions fairing is attached to the bike? I thought the XC had very nice styling, but to be honest after test riding one i no longer has a desire to trade my vision in on one. The vision just has TOO MANY extra bells and whistles to give up.. just my 2 cents.
