| Trying to figure out where the throttle shut off switch is. When I roll the throttle off the cruise will not disengage. Brakes and clutch both disengage the cruise but not the throttle. I have looked in the manual and find no answers. It use to work until I had some work done at another shop (not dealer). Any help would be wonderful.
Thanx |

| The problem is the throttle shut off, when you manually shut the throttle the cruise is suppose disengage. My brake lights work and the front brake shuts off the cruise. |

Posts: 741 Central New York | There is a throttle cable switch. Not sure where it is. There is a test sequence that checks it in the service manual. (section 19 in the '08 manual) |

| Thank you glighto the test shows that the throttle cable switch is not working. Does anyone know where it is or is it a secret. |

Posts: 741 Central New York | The schmatic has the switch grouped in the area with the Right hand controls so if I was going to look for it I would look in the housing that has the kill switch and starter switch. I would be looking for a micro switch ride a cam off the same cam that the cables hook to. |

| I finally found it!
The Throttle Safety Switch is located part way along the throttle cable. It has 2 wires running to it one is pink the other is white/red stripe. Both my wires were not attached. Looking down the right side steering tunnel you can see it just above the bottom of the fuel tank. |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | Tazfan, that's great work finding this and showing us the pictures. I figured it had to be somewhere close to the right grip. The service manual didn't help me, did it help you? How did you find it? I prefer to have problems that have oil & grease on them, instead of sparks, them sparks can knock you on your ass if your not knowing. Vision - Riders amaze me at solving problems. Instead of flaming about them! Thanks Tazfan. Oh, and you see how he can draw circles on the picture...WOW! Hell, I'd have to take the picture, draw a circle with a orange marker and then take a picture of the picture. You didn't do that did you?

| Thanks VisionTex
No the service manual was zero help. I perfer the the oil and grease problems myself.
The circle was easy just took the picture and displayed it on the monitor and used the crayon to draw the circle before adding the picture to the gallery. was not sure that the crayon would transfer with the picture. |

The problem is the throttle shut off, when you manually shut the throttle the cruise is suppose disengage. My brake lights work and the front brake shuts off the cruise.
I hate to sound like a duffus, but I didn't know you could cancel the cruise by forcing the throttle off.
I guess I never cancelled it that way in a 4 wheeled vehicle, so the thought never crossed my mind.

"Yessir Mr Tazfan, your throttle cruise disconnect switch was faulty, the repair with shop time will be $279.99." and all they would have done is re-connect the wires. Hmmmm |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | TaZFan, thank you very much for helping me fix this problem. Been having this issue for a while. Went out to bike and sure enough one of the connectors was not even on. Hooked it back up and TADA.
I looked through the service manual and online parts catalog and found nothing on it. Thanks for the pics and the description, I'm all G U D now!!!!! |
