Posts: 446 East TN | Just got off the phone with my dealer...I have had an on going issue of an oily substance leaking out onto my motor, my chrome trim and my rear anti tip overs...Initially they (the dealership) siad it was my crankcase vent, so they wire tied it tight to the connection and said all's fixed... Now I have had it in for scheduled maintenance and had them check this again, as there is still an oily substance showing up on all of the above...Now thay are saying my GAS TANK NECK (where you fill up the motorcycle) is crimped and is allowing gas to leak out of it...Dealer states that I have been pushing down on the filler neck while getting gas and this caused the failure...I told him I NEVER push down on the filler neck as I have to hold the gas nozzle up to see whne the tank is FULL... I asked if this was covered under warranty (still the first year of ownership) and he said it WOULD NOT!!! (WTF????) Has anyone else had an issue with the filler neck on their Vision? If this is NOT covered under warranty I am contacting a lawyer regarding this as this is TOTALLY INSANE!!! Just a heads up check the filler neck on your Vision is you have a fluid showing up on your motor or and where back of there...It might be GAS!! |

Posts: 374 Tucson, AZ | You might want to check to see if your bike has the new style gas cap. A lot of us had the same symptoms and with the new gas cap my problem has ended. The new cap has the gasket that fits around the outside of the fill neck. Just a thought......

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | I just had 2 warranty claims In one week with NO issues at all from victory. 1) was for the dashboard/speedometer. 2) oil temp dipstick. The dashboard alone was close to $900! And I had the part in 4 business days. I don't think victory denied any claim to fix his bike.. I think he has a crap dealer.. if victory warrantied a $900 dashboard and then next week warranty a 1.5 year old oil temp dipstick thats pretty darn good in my book! |

Joe, do you smell gas fumes when going down the road? I'm thinking if the gas tank neck is leaking, and to do what your saying it has to be below the little catch basin around the neck. You know I've over filled the tank and I'm sure a few others here have and I'm pretty sure it runs down a tube to under the motor. I would think if the leak is making that much of a stain, your going to smell gas when your stopped. If you have a stain on your tip overs in the back, now that's some leak and I would think you would smell gas. Hey, anything can happen, My certified Victory motorcycle mechanic over filled the clutch resivour last year and by the time I got it home, little drops of brake fluid got on my radio display and the black plastic trim on the trunk. Now I have a permanent reminder of my 30,000 mile service. Hope you find the issue soon. |

| This is covered under warranty for the first 12 months and yes it is gas leaking. They will only warranty it once. The top is deformed. I've have flatten out a couple with a block of wood and a small hammer for those who do this after the 12 is up. |

Posts: 446 East TN | Well to clarify the problem a little more...I picked up the bike and found that it is actually the "key lock flange" for the gas cap to have a positive lock when putting the gas cap on...After posting this several hours later my dealer called and said he got it covered under warranty!
They will have to replace the fuel tank...Parts are on order and when they get them in...the bike goes back in for the fix! My bike was purchased in August of last year (8/09) and it first started showing up (the oily substance) back in January...Delaer has been working with me on this problem!! Not the dealer just a pain trying to figure it out!!
Just glad it's covered under warranty or I would have had to call a lawyer...There is NOTHING stating that this is a concern with fueling the motorcycle..Plus you should ALWAYS maintain POSITIVE contact with the fule nozzle to the fuel tank to avoid any type of static build up or charge!! Kind of keeps the sparks down that way!! |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | glad it is working out for you.
also, if when you turn you switch on and you hear the cry of banshees it is time to get a new fuel pump.
what i thought to be a normal sound was the warning sign to my near demise on I-95.
might as well have them do it all at the same time....
