The new Cycle World magazine does a comparison between the Victory Cross Country, the Star Stratoliner Deluxe, and the HD Street Glide. The Vic comes in 2nd place due to it's "clunky gearbox, sub par brakes, and it's size". The HD comes in 1st place not surprisingly, and the Star last but not least. I have never ridden a Street Glide so I can't comment on that or the Star, but I think the "clunky gearbox" on the Vic would quiet down some after it's broken in. All in all it's a fairly good review. I sure like the looks of the HD, classic american. But I think Victory has nothing to be ashamed about, I love the bags on the CC. I wonder if it would've come in 1st if it had a power wndshield? They are doing very well. I hope to see Vic in 1st place within the next few years as they learn, and refine their bikes. |

| I read it also, it was ok but I kinda wonder what they were looking for as far as what a bagger is supposed to be. They acknowledge the XC road and handled better but the knocked it for having upgraded heated seat. The XC had way way more power. But they didnt get in to bag size or ease of use of those bags, they also didnt get in to passanger comfort which that street glide didnt have much to even speak of with that seat let alone it had pegs. They didnt get much into what came standard or what options where avaliable. What seemed like they where concerned with was size ( remember whan the large size of a harley was braggin rights). Compared to the other 2 the harley was smaller and handled better in a parking lot, so that made it number 1. I guess thats ok if what you like to do is cruise/tour a parking lot. Again the article was ok but the criteria in which they declare a winner is odd. I have rode a street glide and from what I thought then the article conferms is that thing is a dog. |

I would read Good Housekeeping before I would read Cycle World. Useless rag for cruiser riders.

Lynchburg Virginia | Just wondering since it was mentioned, what would be the break in milage that a "clunky gearbox" would quiet down? After over 6000 my Vision sounds just as "clunky" as ever! |

New Bohemia, VA | personally, I think it is the sound of reliability, of course I grew up on bulldozers. Mine got a lot quieter around 30,000, but maybe I just got used to it. At 73,000 I'm still just lovin' to ride, ain't got time to complain.
As far as the rags go I just laugh at them because they are just a big ad for their favored product, and Victory isn't it. I have what I know to be the best bike amoung the best bikes and people think I'm lying when I tell them you have to do nothing to the motor. But they just can't get past the "different" look so they may never know what they are missing.
My Vision comes in 1st all the time - so WHO cares what these pieces of crap say on any given day? |

Georgia, west of Atlanta | Haven't ridden a CC, but I do like the way it looks. I've ridden every kind of HD bagger, ElectraGlide, RoadGlide and StreetGlide. The transmission on the Harleys is quiter than my Vision, but it wasn't always this way, older HD's clunked just like Victory's. The 106 freedom engine is stronger than a 96 or 103 Harley stock for stock, don't know about the 110. There is how ever a thousand times more high performance options for Harleys. The saddle bags on the CC are bigger than HD's baggers, however I feel the CC need's a trunk/tourpack option. Not when being compared to a StreetGlide, it has no tourpack either but when compared to a ElectraGlide which I believe would be it's main competition in the 3 bag touring market.......... |

I have ridden a CC and I own an 08 Vision, I don't think either one of them has a "clunky" gearbox. It might make a little bit of noise dropping into first but as someone mentioned it is the "sound of reliability". I also think they were harsh on Vic for providing a bike that had a bunch of add ons that weren't requested, but on the other hand Vic should've given them a stock bike like everyone else. Seems like when it comes to HD comparisons you just can't win. They say the HD is more "compact and has a lower center of gravity", dunno bout the center of gravity but if the Glide is anything like my 74 FLH the better term would be "cramped". And I like the CC bags way better and the tailight is very cool looking. Ah well.... I ride my Vision with pride and not a care to what others (sheeple) think. If I ever feel the need to fit in I will buy a Road King and put some apes on it.
