New Bohemia, VA | Had plans to ride I-40 when returning from Barstow and was hoping to stop in Winslow Az, however, plans may change and take me to Reno. I have kin folk that live up that way, and if I go and visit, I'll be making my trip about 300 miles longer. That'll put me on the loneliest road, RT50 back to I-70 to go home. However, I'm not sure I want to ride I-70. I haven't decided, but input on RT50 is appreciated. A quick check makes it seem like it is not that lonely anymore. |

US50 is just that....the loneliest road......fuel is few and far between.....took that route last November...miles and miles of miles and miles but the scenery is awesome......high desert...awesome panorama and fantastic mountain ranges.....there is a great place to eat in Austin, Nv......can't remember the name but it is an old wooden building on the north side of US 50 in the middle of town. Cell service is spotty along US 50. I think I saw maybe 30 vehicles total after I left Fallon.

New Bohemia, VA | ken - I've stood at four corners so I can by-pass that on the way home. I might have to fore-go Winslow, but it is a good trade-off to ride the loneliest road. There just seems to be too many decisions in life on which road to take. Also, I40 I think is still blocked in NC so I couldn't do the entire I40 and I might have an opportunity to ride it again later when they open the road... decisions, decisions... |

Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | RT 64 is a much better road than 70. I often stay in the super 8 in Mt Vernon IL there is an Italian restaurant you can walk accros to parking lot to. In Kansas rt 24 is the old Pony Expess route and get you off the Highway. I have not ridden it but a bud in Phoenix usually takes it when visiting back east. He said although two lane you can move pretty good. I am sorry I have not ridden 50 out there but thought I would pass along what I know about the area you will be coming through. Not a lot of truck on 64 compared to 40/70. |

seattle, wa | It's been awhile, but I trucked across 50 a couple times. It is definately lonely. I recommend it, just stop for gas whenever you get the chance. 70 is nice up to Denver, then it sucks after that. There really isn't a good way to get across the High Plains. If time isn't a factor I'd ride all 2 lanes across the Plains. Not much scenery on the Big Road, unless you really enjoy looking at corn fields. |

| I went thru 50 1 year ago from california to the eastern side of Utah and it is was a great ride. At the time I did it there was some
greenery out there due above average rain fall. You have 4 towns in the 440 miles of Nevada all spaced out about 100 miles or so.
It was the old pony express route. Austin is a cool place to stay with all the history there. Oh by the way watch out for all the bicycle riders
and I am not joking. It was very strange to see them in the middle of nowhere setting camp 50 feet off the road.

Same here Tex. Who would have figured two Visions on seperate mission would meet in the middle of the Desert. I ended up in Tuba City for the night and left early enough to see the South Rim before the crowds showed. How was your ride to the North side? |

| It was great! We hit the North Rim, Zion and blasted up to Provo Utah. On Monday we hit Yellowstone, Bear Tooth, Chief Joseph Highway and then stayed the night in Buffalo Wy. Made it home today after 3,273 miles of fun starting on Friday afternoon. |

New Bohemia, VA | I have to bring this post back up. I was thinking this morning that two years ago today I had rode the Vision to California. I would love to make a trip like that again, just don't have enough vacation time. I'm wondering what ever happen to Tex? What a cool encounter, two Vision, on two entirely different missions happen to meet literally in the middle of the desert. Absolutely priceless, especially in 2010. |

Nebraska | Road from Ely to Reno on 50. Nice ride. Been better if it wasn't 110 degrees ... I read that someone cut down the shoe tree. Thats too bad. |

Mt. Vernon, WASH. | 50 was originally a stagecoach road and was part of one of the very first transcontinental car trips, so you'd be riding on lots of history. |

| i've only ridden 50 in VA and West VA but here it's an awesome road. RoadRunner Magazine did a series of 4 articles on the ride in late 2010 early 2011...
have it on my bucket list to go from east to west on it in the next couple of years... |
