| I have an iphone 3gs and recently updated to the 4.0 software. Lost all control of the iphone except for volume. Luckily the next day I discovered the phone had a crack in the rear case and was able to have the phone replaced with a new one that has 3.1.3 software.
Moral of the story "don't do the update if you want the iPhone to operate with the stereo on the vision".
If anyone know of a software update for the 09 vision please speak up. |

I have an older iPod that I keep connected for that
BUT!!
I did the 4.0 upgrade on my 3Gs and I can no longer hear the voice commands from my Zumo 550. The phone still connects, but no sound is received, ditto for placing or receiving a phone call via the Zumo.
The phone and music will play through my Nolan Ncom Bluetooth headset if I go direct and bypass the Zumo.
I haven't had time to investigate this, I'm hoping there is something simple that I have missed.

| Yes, the 4.0 will not operate the iphone through the vision's thumb buttons. As a matter of fact after you push play all you get on the iphone screen is the "accessory connected" screen so you can't control the iphone at all.
The only thing you can do is change the volume with the thumbswitch on the vision. |

| Oh yeah, forgot to add that my scala rider would not hook up with my phone either. Probably easily fixed my deleting the connection on the phone and re-connecting as if it were a new headset. Never got the chance to try it though. |

| I asked about going back from 4.0 at the Apple store yesterday and they said it was very difficult to go backwards from 4.0 because of the amount of changes in the registry. Don't know for sure. Let us know if you try it. |

Turns out my problem was with the Zumo, I reloaded the latest software and that corrected the problem with my Nolan Ncom communicating with it and the iPhone. |

Yeah, I'm just about to the point of finding an obsolete iPod to load music on just for my bike due to all the issues that have come up after the software and hardware releases...
eBay: Refurb 8GB Nano = $60 (+S&H)
ebay: Otterbox ruggedized case for Nano 3rd Gen = $15 (with S&H)
And now I have an iPod that is working with my bike's radio. No problems. Charges, displays correctly, controls correctly and pauses music when the bike is shut down...
My iPod Touch makes a decent work PDA nowadays. I'm not really losing anything if it dies off since I don't use it for the bike it was intended it for.
I won't buy the iPhone until it shows up on a decent carrier (They don't even exist around here, so they won't sell them in this part of the country). Of course the newest ones are riddled with antenna problems too, so that does not help although it's funny to watch Steve B. Jobs try to drag other manufactureres into his hellish antenna debacle. Anyway, go with the older hardware. Not only is it more compatible, it is also higer quality. |

Posts: 323 Troy, NY | I have not had any luck using the iPod victory connector with my iPod or iPhone regardless of software. To save myself headaches I just use the auxiliary cable and have no problems. I also use my GPS app on my phone and get the voice directions through the speakers. I paid $25 bucks a year for GPS instead of the ridiculous amount for the vision GPS.
I have not tried the new iPod connector from Victory. I'm not going to either. |

Load your Nano up with your favorite tunes, leave it on the bike and forget it, everything works great, and leave the phones on your belt for good. The phone will still work just fine via Zumo bluetooth and all you have to do is hit the stereo mute if you really must receive a call while riding. |

Posts: 235 Kincardine, Ontario, Canada | My old white iPod cable became defective. I purchased the new black version for the 08 Vision for $120.00 Cdn and had the radio software reflashed to 5.1? or 5.3?? don't remember for sure. I have a 2nd gen Nano, 3rd gen Nano and the iPhone 3Gs with software 4.1. All three work flawlessly now on the bike, and all three charge. I now leave the old 2nd gen Nano plugged in all the time without issues |

But I dicided to downgrade to 3.1.3, and here's the site that has the steps required: http://lifehacker.com/5572003/how-to-downgrade-your-iphone-3g%5Bs%5... |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | I can use the iPhone 4 with its up to date firmware on my 2008 Vision with its 5.12a firmware using the old iPod cable for the 2008 Vision (that wont charge the new phone) with the Cablejive charging adapter (so I can charge the iPhone 4 while riding).
Have you read the iPod information at the link below and the info in the PDF file?

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I tried a couple of friends iPhone 4s on my bike and they worked. I than upgraded my 3G to a iPhone 4. It will play a couple of songs and than wig out, freeze, ect. Now I am using my old 3G as an ipod. It has 4.0 software and works fine. Seems like the new phone is too fast for the Victory radio.

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | Thanks John. I checked that after I posted. I still have the orig software, Ver. 4 point something. I have to get to the dealer if the rain ever stops. I spoke to the service manager a while back about if software updates were covered under warranty. He told me no. I have had to deal with him a bunch since that's where my bike was taken after the wreck. The GM at the closest dealer to me is a good guy, but the service manager rubs me the wrong way.
