Surprise huh ?? If anyone is running one tell us if it's worth buying and where you got it.............. |

Posts: 118 Capitol Region of NH | Victory has a oil dipstick temperature guage, P/N 2858110 for $59.99. Seems to work well, I have one on my VV. Not sure if you were looking for this type or something else, but this is all they have as far as I know. |

does your still work after all the water? if so and IF they replace it under warranty i will just keep it if it does it again.. i wonder if there is some type of glue/sealer that can be installed around the plastic/glass? the only reason i wanted to get rid of it was dirty water got in there.. and its a little hard to see.. |

Posts: 68 Cabot Arkansas | The thermometer comes out of the victory one, you can replace it with a cheap one from wal mart or such. I had mine come apart so i used some blue locktite to fix it with on other issues |

It dries out in time but I've never seen it not working, just got the brown haze to it. Yea, it's kinda sorry that it leaks at all, but I find that I really don't believe people ride these things in the rain, else all the stuff would be waterproof to like 100ft, or something like that...

Posts: 171 San Antonio, Texas | But what I want is one like those other guys (HD) can get--it shows temp and can be toggled to show level, too--plus, it's lit so it can be seen in the dark. Victory are ya' listenin'? |

Oil temp gauges or level indicators are basically a waste of money on a Victory motor. Spend your money on something that you'll get some use from...like a tire pressure monitor. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | VT I like my gage, I've actually had more questions about that than anything else on the bike. It puts a comfort level to the state of things, especially when rollin' across the desert with temps of 110 and the gage barely reads 200 degrees. |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | The point I was making is the motor does not need either temp or level gauges and I don't believe Victory would put money into either. If folks want to add gauges for oil temp, that's fine, but not really needed. The temp you saw going across the desert is normal and not harmful to your oil. All the oils today can handle high temperatures in normal motorcycle riding. And by normal that mean stuck in traffic for an hour and riding across the desert all day...that's normal. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | we're both agreeing VT, to the T. I failed to mentioned, that was my normal temp, around 200 on any given day or ambient temp. I've never had a problem with the heat or oil level ever on my Vic. The highest I've seen it is 300, it was knocking a little, and might have chocked and shut off in stop and go traffic, but it was never a concern to stop and cool. I bought mine out of ignorance because I was new to Vic, but since I've got, I like better than the stock one.
With all that said, the motor ran perfect from a 700+ to 1,000+ and 2-500 mile days, all back to back, across the mountains with the highest elevation of 10,000 ft and from temps from 60 degrees to 110 all in the same day. I haven't even check my oil the entire trip. |

I have enought to drive me crazy already and I will just accept the designers of this bike have done there homework, after all this is 'not' a Harley. I had an old boss that would always tell me "understanding is the booby prize in life." |

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | i got my oil temp dispstick replaced under warranty today.. and i noticed something right off the bat. they changed it a little. first thing i noticed was it Now reading 50F higher than before. and i noticed the "print" or font of the numbers looks different as well. seems more easy to read. i also noticed that it reads a tad bit cooler than the other one as well.. My old O.T.D. ready too 300F, now this one reads to 350F. No biggie, just wanted to mention it. |
