Posts: 550 Tacoma, WA | Hello all! I just had my 2500 mie service, and they found a drill bit in my rear tire! So, at 2600 miles, I have a NEW rear tire. I will plug the old one, and use it for the next tire change. The dealer would not plug it, for liability reasons. What is the strangest thing you have gotten in your tires??? -----Metalguy |

Posts: 1324 So Cal | Its not strange, but when I had my Dyna, rear tires were good for about 8k. Three times in a row, every time I replaced the rear tire, within a week they had picked up something. It was getting annoying. The first one the dealer found and refused to plug it and installed a tube. Not easy to fix on the road. So after that I started carrying a plug kit with me. I put about 7k on one with two plugs in it with no problem. |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | I have a motorcycle tire shop close to me. Their main business is tires, so I believe they know their stuff. I too just had to change the rear tire at ~2500 miles for a nail. This dealer will "patch" a tire due to puncture, but they won't do this on all puntures. If the puncture is clean and goes straight in, the will patch. They have a "patch - plug" and it is applied from the inside while the tire is off the rim. That is the only way they will do the repair. Anyway they couldn't (wouldn't) do a patch on my rear tire due to the nail went into the tire sideways. So $202 later, new tire.
I got a nail in the rear tire on my Kingpin last year, they patched that tire and I rode it out to +15,000 miles. |

Posts: 562 SC, Bluffton | I have about 500 miles on my plugged (tar rope) rear tire on the Kawasaki VN2000. It had a small brass color nail in it. A real slow leaker. I used a mushroom plug from my roadside emergency kit. It still leaked very slowly (liquid soad bubbled). Moral: Don't buy synthetic mushrooms.
On a different note, the Vision's tire are Goldwing tires. There are now at least 5 brands out there. I think it was smart of Victory to use an existing tire size. |
