It's getting very close to getting new slip-ons because my stock exhaust is getting worn out. Over the past several months I've noticed a deepening of the tone, which is cool by my ears. But now it is also making a chirping sound. At first I thought it was a washer rattle from a loose nut but got to listen to it from the right side pipe on the rev. It is definitely a baffle loose or something similar that is making a whistle-chirping sound coming out of the exhaust. I've thought about punching the pipes out but don't know if I want to live all the noise, and have thought of going with an aftermarket exhaust.

But at this stage of the game being satisfied with everything I might just go for some new mufflers, cheap, from someone who has done an upgrade.

With almost 68,000 on the clock I have been more than pleased with the Bentley of Bikes. In Harley years that's like 50 years. The only real work that has ever been done is the fuel pump replacement and steering stem bearing.

Just wanted to give you a heads up on something I found over weekend. My bike has had what I thougt was a lose baffle in the mufler on the right side muffler. Saturday morning I was laying on barn floor checking rear tire pressure O what fun that is. I bumped the the aluminum plates that protect the belt and it made a noise so I flexed the plate out away from the belt some and rode about 400 miles and never heard it one time. Just something to look.

varyder, I've had that same sound since having a little over 2k miles. I also thought it was coming from the pipe but have yet to pin point it. I'm leaning towards something other than the pipe now but who knows. Doesn't bother me enough to concern myself with it. Let us know what you find if you do swap out pipes.

the sound is very pronounced coming out of the exhaust, the tech and I both checked it out. Thanks for the thought though RR. I did have the guard rubbing at one time but it is clear of the belt. I might poke around up in there to see if I can get to quiet some. It really only does it when I throttle and it is noticable taking off from a stop. Underway it is not a problem, nor is it a problem at idle, just when you want to go vroom, vroom, it sounds like I'm upsetting the crickets.

There may be other chirps running around, in fact rlreed yours may be the sound that mine had made when I first got the Vision. However, that was in the front of the bike and was more of a tick. I replace the exhaust gaskets and that sound went away as well as my continual popping.

This sound is distinctly coming out of the little hole at the end of the big silver thing on the right side of the bike. Sorry to sound elementary about this but unless that sound you are hearing is coming out of the exhaust pipe itself it is not likely to be the same thing. After the last few days it is seemingly getting worse and the right pipe is rumpling a little more at idle. I might be wrong but I believe the inside of the right muffler has major decay.

thanks ed, that has been a discussion. I don't if I want to open up or be cheap. The rate I'm going it'll probably be cheap, since I drive like a little old lady. I find the stock Vision does fine bustin' out 4-5 grand shifts from stop light take offs. I found out today that I can hit 70mph at redline in third, wooohoo. More than I need....

Mine might be a manifold leak, the only time I hear it is on acceleration. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet....

I actually have mine for sale on Dayton Ohio Craigs list right now. I'm not riding much and when I get back to florida in the fall I'm having back surgery so I figure I'll try and sell it now....

it's progressively getting worse and it will even pop on the right side so I'm thinking there is a hole in the muffler as well. I figured the mufflers would go over a 100,000 miles, but I guess I might be wrong.
