| Ok had some pare cash and decided what the hay, I'll get one. Came in today and I put it on. Couple observations.
1. It is real stiff compared to the stock one.
2. I'm having a bear of a time getting the little cowl panel at the front of the seat to snap into place. I got it on but it keeps popping back up a little so I know it isn't locked down right. This could be an issue with the stock seat occasionally but not like this. Actually my cowl kept popping up after the new fuel tank was installed a couple weeks back, it just seems to be compounded by the seat, so I'll get the dealer to have a look when it's in next.
3. Seat appears to be leather. Can't say with 100% certainty but it looks and feels like leather. Nice looking for sure.
4. No ride observations yet as I just got it on and haven't been out yet..
5. Back of riders bucket comes further up the back which is very nice, and rider sits a wee bit lower. |

Two things to get the seat to fit better.
Take a dremel and enlarge the two mounting holes on the seat up front. Then, clip the seat in and hammer the seat into the rear clip deeper by hitting the lumbar area of the seat with your fist. You will be amazed by how much further back into the clip the seat will move just by tapping it. Before tightening the two screws, hold the two front ends of the seat fit into the recessed area of the body slightly away from the bodywork. Just a few mm is all you need. Your access panel should now fit correctly again... |

Posts: 311 Atlanta Area | Another way to tell the seats apart. The 2009 leather seat has two leather flaps that cover the built in driver and passenger backrest holes. The 2010 vinyl seat has an exposed hole with no flap only for the driver. The hole passes through the seat with no built in bracket. 2010 seat owners get dinged with having to buy the Vic backrest mount separately... |

| 1atom12, yep did the pound it back thing and it is as far back as it will go. May have to do the dremel thing as a last resort. Yes it is the 2010 seat without the flaps and I am quite familiar with the 2009 Ness seat.
One thing I forgot to add earlier; The seat fit problem on the stock seat where the saddlebag door is hitting on one side and not the other is gone with the Ness seat. I noticed this on the 2009 Ness and the 2010 seat also eliminates the problem. Must have been a pan alignment issue or a padding/seat covering issue with the stock heated seat that causes the touching.
Thanks for the help 1atom |

| ok first ride and a couple unintended outcomes. First off because the seat is a little lower my arms are in a better position, I like it. Second my shoulders are out of my mirrors allowing me to not dip a shoulder to see the full mirror view.
The seat is stiffer than stock, BUT after only 130 miles is already beginning to soften up. Mrs says her saddle is the same (stiff to start and breaking in quickly).
The saddle does seem to push you ever so slightly forward but at the same time you sit back into the saddle without any tendancy to slide forward, again I like this. Overall very happy with the seat now I just need to use 1atoms adice to set the panel down properly. |
