Posts: 411 Dallas, Texas | I just found this from Castrol, and was wondering if anyone had ever used it, or is it very new?

Not comparing or anything, just wondering if it is new.

Posts: 411 Dallas, Texas | Guess they will have to alter their oil change kit. Filter will probably still be sold, since they are Polaris. |

Posts: 619 Southeast Iowa | Victory isn't in the oil business now...........they have an oil company put their label on jugs of oil and makes money being the middleman. The fact that some people believe that since Victory sells it "it must be the best oil for my bike" guarantees some level of business. I can think of no logical reason why Victory would want to quit selling a consumable that generates cash year after year. |

Posts: 411 Dallas, Texas | Perhaps cost, or maybe a contract ending, could be the reason that they would have to stop re-branding oil from an oil producer. I don't know who the oil company was that made Vic Oil. But it still seems like the industry believes semi-synths are better for the big V-Twins, probably due to clutch slippage issues. |

Posts: 619 Southeast Iowa | No way Victory would quit selling oil for cost or a contract that was ending. If their supplier raised their cost I'm sure Victory would just pass the increase along. As for the contract ending........I'm sure they would renew with the existing supplier or find a new one. For what Victory charges for an oil change kit there is plenty of money to be made for everyone (Supplier, Victory, & Dealer)
I'm can't say for sure why Victory specs semi-synth but I know they couldn't charge what they charge for dyno oil and a full synthetic would raise their cost thus lowering their profit margins. Hey, you have to feel like your getting something special to pay over $8.00 a quart for it.
HD sells both dyno oil and full synthetic because they know they have customers that want both. I've don't know if they offer a semi-synth but it wouldn't surprise me if they sold that too. |
