I just got around to finally installing the performance air filter from Polaris. The bike is stock...The engine likes it. The less restrictive filter element really lets the engine rev quicker.....I like it. Two thumbs up.

Do you happen to have the part number you can share? A lot of us bought the filter as a package with a staged upgrade kit and need to replace ours. Thanks!

You should not need to replace it, only clean it. K&N makes a Recharger filter care service kit (#99-5050) which sells for about $15. It comes with an Air Filter Cleaner and Air Filter Oil.
The Victory performance air filter is #2876628 and list for $59.95 in the 08 catalog. You can also buy one from Arlen Ness which is basically the same thing for a little less money. They sell them on ebay and many other places.

Here is a side by side example of the stock paper element and the oiled K&N type performance filter.

Polaris stock number is 2876628.

K&N is usually the best air filters for any engine, plus they last almost forever.................

How is the process for cleaning the K&N? Clean one of these on same frequency as you replace the stock paper?

First off the I don't believe K&N makes the Victory High Performance air filter. But it is of similiar construction. I don't believe the filter comes with a cleaning & oil kit when purchased from Victory, but is suppose to be oiled from the factory. So it is best to purchase the kit from your local auto parts store that sells K&N products. Fram also has a kit, but their oil is more orange that red...you can see why. The direction-process for cleaning the filter is with the kit. Spray it with the cleaner, wash with water no pressure, let dry don't blow dry, reoil. I would say yes on the frequency, but it depends on where you ride. If dusty or very rainy conditions exist, you may want to reduce the frequency by half or more, depending on how much you ride. Me, I like to look at the filter at least twice a year...that's just me.

I have run K&N in my cars in the past. Pulled them due to oil getting on the Mass Airflow Sensor. I didn't think the one that came with the staged kits was a K&N.

If it is a K&N, then they come pre-oiled from the factory.

Not K&N this is the Victory Brand Performance Filter, similar to K&N, and previous pots are a bit confusing about whether or not these Victory Air Filters need to be oiled after cleaning.
