Looking for some ideas for mods. I did the middle brake light and am going to remove the reflectors today but I'm in the mood to tinker.

I met someone who had replaced the reflectors under the saddlebags with leds. Great idea and will do it as soon as I figure out how to do it.

What else have you guys done? I have the street so no trunk.

I know you probably don't care. But I just wanted to mention, I u bought the extended warranty u need to think about which mods u plan on Doug. Already someone on here was denied coverage because of leds added to their vision. Even though the leds wasn't the cause of the problem..

Two of the cheapest and best mods I have done: Get high-temp black paint an paint the underside stuff on the right side black. I did the exhaust crossover, the belt guard and some bolt heads that stuck-out like crazy after I painted the first two things. Looks sooo much better.

Next: THE LIC PLATE: very simple--> Take a hacksaw (or whatever) and cut off the top reflector of the license plate holder. THen, cut a 2 inch or so slit up the existing plate bracket (takes 2 cuts-- one on each side of the part that screws in). Bend that little sucker back, file it down, and paint it black. Simple lay-down and looks VERY NICE. You will see right where to cut when you get it in your hands..very obvious grove that you follow.

I love the lay down plate. I have not tried the trunk yet with it down, but it appears it will fit. I do know that other guys have welded tabs to slide the plate down a little to miss the trunk. Check it out if that is an issue for you. Very easy either way.

I like the license plate idea. Do you have any pictures of the final product? I really don't like the giant reflector on top.

The stock license plate bracket is the ugliest thing I've seen on a motorcycle. Looks like an after thought. It got even uglier when I removed the trunk because I could then see the whole backside. Wish I would have thought about the lay down method before I got the Ness Chrome bracket.

I had the rear pulley, belt guard, and wheels power coated black. Painting that discolored cross over sounds like a good idea. I also just noticed that there are two bolts on the R/S exhaust by the cross over that are rusted and look like crap. Need to find caps or new ones.

The cheapest mod I have done is really great. Went to Harbor freight and bought 2 small adjustable round convex mirror. Just put them on each mirror on the "point" section of the mirror and they work great. The mirrors are adjustable so you can turn them to exactly where you want them so you can see that blind spot. . They have even got rid of some of the vibration of the big mirrors. Total cost of mod $5.00

For me it was a GPS (Garmin 765 that also plays MP3s) and my own DIY Laydown mod (see here: http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=10311&st...

Big, beautiful, fast, kinda loud at times, and a super comfortable ride.  Like someone I know.   Since lloyd dyno tuned it, I lost 120#, significantly improving HP/weight ratio.  Now it hauls less ass faster.

Yes, pic please. And does the plate light still shine on it?

This one is fresh on my mind. After owning my 08 for a little over 5 years and getting it just the way I wanted, I totaled it and bought a 12 demo. Now I'm in the process of getting it to where I had the 08.
First was the lowering link.
Then the hitchdoc trailer hitch, the Kuryakin 4710 brake light/running light conversion, the 99 LED addition to the trunk, the backrest, the Cycleops aluminum lower wind deflectors, the 2" shorter windshield and when KevinX finishes the cams and timing gear, I'm stripping her down to have it painted!
Can't wait for the performance work, I guess it's my favorite "mod" since it really wakes up that 106.

And Williebyte, I love the way yours looks. Almost identical to my 08 except I didn't have chrome forks or wheels.
