| Hi Guys, Just a heads-up, I downloaded the '08 shop manual to use with my '10 Vision. The spec listed for the drive belt tension is 20 mm so that's what I used. Just for the heck of it I took a look in my owner's manual before I took the bike off of the lift and found the spec listed there to be 32 mm. That is about a 1/2" difference! Huge! I did it all over again using the current spec. I don't know why they changed it but I'm going to be very careful in the future using info out of the '08 manual. As a matter of fact I think I'll go ahead and get the '10 manual from the dealer even though its priced at a ridiculous $135. I don't want to be worrying that the info in the '08 manual may not apply. Better safe than sorry! BTW, in the '08 manual they talk about setting the rear wheel alignment by spinning the wheel backward and watching for the belt to move off of the inner side of the pulley. Seems kinda Mickey Mouse. In the new owner's manual they have deleted that step altogether. Now they say just to make sure the hash marks on the adjuster plates are in the same position. That sounds better

Posts: 118 Capitol Region of NH | Speaking from experience, in the belt tension area that is, I do know that the belt tension spec for the 08 changed due to it producing noise. Shortly after getting my 08 I was geting a chirping sound from the belt drive. I took it in for adjustment and the said it was in spec. I left the dealership with the noise still happening. After reading some post on this site I found that victory had changed the tightness spec. I went back to the dealership and advised them of this info. They called Victory right in front of me and confirmed that the spec had been changed. My bike was brought in immediately and re-tensioned to the new spec. Voila, noise was gone, at least for the rest of the 08 season. When the bike came out to play for the 09 season the noise was back, and worse. Thats when victory recalled certain 08 rear pullies. Mine was replaced under warranty. Sorry for the long story, but yes the spec changed in 08. And by the way I believe I have the best dealership in both sales and service, HK Powersports in Hooksett, Tilton and Laconia NH. |

Having changed the belt at 45,000 miles to find it like brand new makes me believe it is a good thing. I plan on running my current belt well over 100,000 unless of course something nicks it. |

| One aspect that makes the tension spec so different as compared to a Harley as an example is the increased amount of travel the Vision Tourer has. The belt is the tightest when the rear wheel center is in line with the drive sprocket. The tension is set and adjusted when the suspension is completely extended. Since a Harley only has 3" of travel vs the Vision Tourer with 4.7", the Vision rear wheel is hanging down much lower than the Harley when extended so the belt will have more slack necessitating a bigger spec. The Harley touring bikes except for the Street Glide specs the deflection at 10 mm as compared to the Vision Tourer at 32 mm. If they were compared with the belt at its tightest the deflection would most likely be about the same.

| Hey John, off the subject but I was thinking about installing a set of Lloydz cams. Did it make much difference? How would you describe it? You know, like high rpm increase, low rpm increase or what? Where do you feel it? Are you glad you did it?
Thanks for the input,
Marc |

| They get tighter when hot because the pulleys grow as they heat up. I'm not sure what kind of damage will happen if you leave it too tight. Probably better to have it readjusted. Maybe someone else with more experienced will chime in.

Posts: 1340 Gainesville Fl Home of the Gators | FYI The "Mickey Mouse" procedure of rotating the wheel backwards while centering with the adjusters actually works quite well. Just making sure the notches are the same most likely will have a squeaky belt. the alignment plates fit loosly enough that they can be off by 1/4" side to side. The notches serve only to ball park the alignment |

| I certainly agree that the procedure works. The part I found "Mickey Mouse" was the fact that you need to go through such a procedure in the first place. It seems that they've done such a good job overall in engineering that they could have come up with a built in way of insuring belt alignment. I only have experience with Harley's method of belt alignment which is pretty foolproof. BTW, do you know if they changed something on the '10 bikes that would make the alignment procedure not necessary? It isn't in the owner's manual but maybe it never was, I don't know. Was it in the earlier owner's manuals or just in the shop manual? Should I assume it still needs to be done? Posts: 1340 Gainesville Fl Home of the Gators | Agreed a cam type tensioner with matching sides for alignment would definatly be nice. Agreed that the present system is silly
Alignment proceedure has never been in owners manual, but it is still in the service manual |

Marc, best money I ever spent. There isn't a high rpm cam bump like you might expect or a lopey idle that is characteristic of high lift and / or high duration cams. The powerband is basically the same but 30 more HP across the board. It is almost a 40% bump in HP and TQ. It is very noticable. You won't have to downshift to pass anymore either. Coming off my stage 1 2007 Kingpin, i was looking for more power for my stock Vision. My Vision felt like it had asthma when getting on the freeway. Not anymore. I think if you asked everyone that has had them done, they would feel the same way. Don't wait to do it. Jump in on one of the cam parties. |

Thanks,
