I can't find the sweet spot to get my Vision lifted with this jack. Will it work with this jack and if so what is the secret?

I have the yellow one. I had to make 4 pads(about 1.5 tall) to mount in the holes on the top and position the jack so the rear arm is in line with the exhaust crossover. and the jack is stopped by the kick stand. This works for me and i can spin the bike around on it. The bottom of the engine is not flat. It took me some practice to find the sweet spot

I thought this was going to be a childrens story. But none the less I've the red Sears jack and it is a rock-a-billy because of the curvature of the engine belly. However, there seems to be some nubs that happen to line up exactly with the padded jack surface and that is where I place mine with about an inch poking out on the left side. Kick down will not really let it go much further than that. I would like to have some curved padding mounted to the jack to fit the engine especially when it is on the upper limits and locked. Not the best system but it does work.

Heres a link of the pictures of lifting my Vision with the red Sears jack. I use no pads and have lifted al 4 of my Vics with no issues.

Pictures do help a lot, thanks. I had 3 VTX's before the Vision and a guy in Texas fabed a metal stand for the VTX also worked on HD's and maybe others and once the bike was jacked up slide the stand under and drop the bike down it wasn't going anywhere. Didn't need straps and was able to climb up on the bike to run it through the gears if needed and it was rock steady. Won't work on the Vision because the rails were outside the lift bars. I am really going to miss it.

Here is a template for a jack block from an earlier posting I believe it was from a friend on the other side of the pond.

i had mine on the RED sears jack just last week when i cleaned the rear wheel. Once you find the spot its no longer an issue.. i used the red jack to remove my rear wheel and take it to the dealer for a new tire install. works great. ive had this jack for 7 years now

Here are pictures of my plugs. I made them from some plastic rod that was leftover from a job.I think wood blocks will work too. The placement of the jack takes some practice, but when you find it and jack the bike up both wheels clear the ground. I do this to turn the bike around in my shop so I can ride out. Just remember to strap it down untill your comfortable with it. You can drop your bike off these jacks. Also release the jacks safety bar before lowering it.

This week may not work, but we can plan for next week if you'd like. What's your favorite place around here. I can't seem to find one except the American Grill or something like that.

I use a Crew Line motorcycle jack and have found that using the regular square rubber furniture cups on each of the four corners give me enough clearance to jack the Vision without problems. You can stack the cups as high as necessary and they are cheap at Home Depot or Lowes. They also make them round but they are harder to find.
