I downloaded the two NO-Brainers, ZZ Tops greatest hits, and George Thurogoods greatest hit. I will be loading the Great Gonzo "Uncle Ted Nugents greatest hits". After that, I'm at a standstill.

Need some ideas gents/ladies. I want driving music, not kicking back in the lawn chair music. Something that will "get your motor running"...oh, I will be loading Steppen Wolf also. yeah!

I was thinking of a mix, starting with Pat Travers...help me from there..

Bucky - You gotta have some CW, including Merle, Willie, JD Coe, I can go for hours withe the best of Hank Snow.

In fact in lookin at your picks, if you ride a Vision you need to "man up" a little with this music. Well I agree with Steppen Wolf but the rest sound like Vespa Riders Music. ---- Who in the world is Pat Travers????????????

Oh yea, I wonder if the Pochkin has any Tennessee Ernie Ford? Poo??

Free and Easy (down the road I go); Roll Me Away; (Ghost) Riders in the Sky; I've Been Everywhere; Riders on the Storm; Life is a Highway; Flirtin' With Diaster; The Motorcycle Song (Arlo Guthrie, I don't a pickle, I just want to ride on my motorsickle...); Highway Song; Running on Empty; Magic Carpet Ride; Moonlight Feels Right; (has a good meaning if you grew up around the Chesapeake Bay and rode along it in the moonlight.); Ride Like the Wind.

Just to name of few, each of those, as well as few others I relate to when I take a long ride on my motorbike. (Crazy Little Thing Called Love).

I forgot one Wanted Dead or Alive. (on a steel horse I ride...)

I still enjoy the occasional rock/southern rock, however nowadays I have become a true blues and jazz afficianado. Serious blues riffs etc. Some may think it's armchair music, but as the thread says "WHAT'S YOUR PREFERRED RIDING MUSIC". That's what my iPod is loaded with.

Pat Travers Band..."Boom boom, out goes the lights!" Oh yeah... I am all over the place with riding music. I like....."into the never" by Metallica for the twisties... SO good. But it all depends on what kind of a ride it is. I even have the red elvises on the iPod! Tom Petty, Some Boston, Usher (YEAH!) Snoop Dog, Phish, Marilyn Manson, Queen of the damned soundtrack, Type O negative, Rammstein, Portishead, Ozzy, Presidents of the United States of America...SO many! Yes, I know I am weird....----Metalguy

MadDog, I agree. Not only do I have Jazz, Blues, Rock and Talk, I have Classical besides! I also like to listen to old time radio shows. I wasn't around then, but sure knew what they were doing. http://www.oldtimeradiofans.com/ and http://www.radiolovers.com/ are sites for some free downloads. I also order from other sites that ship mp3-CDs with lots of shows on them from http://www.theradiolady.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc and others. Just enter Old time radio shows in the search engine of your choice. I especially like X Minus One. Space sci-fi

It was all just rock n roll when I was growing up, now they have catagories. Clapton, Joe Cocker, Joplin, Ozzy, Leon Russell (old stuff) Molly Hatchet (flirtin with disaster), Boston, Yes, Styx, If its old rock i'll listen. Newer artists Kenny Wayne Shepperd, Jonny Lang, Nickelback, Creed. Thanx to Steeley Dan, an introduction to Jazz, I like the instrumental stuff. Cant ride without Blues and Southern Rock.

Your a bunch of ROCK N ROLLERS! My genre is along the lines of metalguy. I rock the six strings, and have 4 guitars. I'm not very good, but I make ALOT of noise. I'm like Jekyl and Hyde. I'm calm and reserved until I hear metal, the it's on.

The first song to play on my Vision just has to be "Wherever I may Roam" from Metallica's Black Album. As James Hetfield belts out in the middle of the chourus "Anywhere I roam, where I lay my head is home." Now that the kids are older, it is the growing urge to explore and visit places I have never seen, with more focus on the journey than the destination, that is driving me to get a Motorcycle.

The words fit the passion to ride. I've found that I have plenty of destinations since my family is at least 4 hours away, my son being the farthest away in Texas at 1,600 miles. But it is always the journey that adds to the destination. In fact, I have the potential of going to California on business, and I want to ride rather than fly. Life is way too short to see it from a window....

sarcasim at it's finest, jama. Purhaps your genre is bit more "ethnic" in nature? It's all good. Honestly, you have to come at us harder than that. However, if you put an amplifier in the trunk, and speakers in the side bags, curb feelers and "under" lights, I would think that was bad-ass also. The only thing that could make this bike ugly is ....well nothing. As you can tell by mosts music selections, we are a bit older than the average riders. I asked for suggestions on music, which didn't specify a particular genre. This would leave the door open for you to enlighten us older folks. Purhaps you "rap" or hip hop? Think about your response. An intelligent person would have mentioned his prefered music instead of trying to belittle us for what we like. Maybe it's the angry young man with two many tatoos? Or a rapper with to many "hoes" that brought you to bring us your haughty reply? Who knows? We might benifit from you music selection, and you may hear me playing Busta or Snoop Diggity Dog, but don't hold you breath and shit, know what I'm saying?

Wow, i got to drinking coffee and went off on a rant. I think that was a rant meant for my teenager that lost focus and ended up here. If you read the above rant, it wasn't meant to be more desturbing than you wish it to be. Disreguard, reload and carry on.

I've got an iPod touch 16g and I've got a bunch of songs, 30, 40 and it doesn't even scratch the surface, uses less than one gig. So my professional assessment for the 4gb is a bunch, or a kapoodle, depending on the size of the files.

My "8gig" Nano gen 3 actually has 7.4 gb available. I have 232 songs (so far) that used 1.15 gb & 75 photos which used only 48.7mb. It seems as though I can load up a lot more music & still have "a bunch " of memory available. Ain't technology wonderful?

Wish I knew more about making a podcast. It'd be great to have several podcasts of Riding Tunes and make them available to you all. Anyone know the logistics? I'm sure there are legalities involved as well.

Hell, Buckeye; I didn't mean to make fun of anybody. Just thought a little absurd response would be fun. Guess not. Those selections are sort of what I would like to blast into the street when the window shakers go by. I happen to like most of you guy's selections. And Frank Sinatra, and blues, and Josh Groban, and Andrea Bocelli. You were thinking I'm 16 or so? Reverse the digits. No offense taken, anyhow.
