Well I got my atom bombs on and finally got to ride my new ness vision. On my way to town for fuel I had to wait on a train and the bike died! It started back up and I went for fuel. After filling with super 93 the bike would not start. So far the bike to this point has 6 miles on it. I pushed off to the side to check things over. I cycled the key but nothing seemed to work. The display didn't have the neutral N on it just a flat line where the N was to be. Just buy chance I cycled the hazzard switch and the display worked again.
I continued to ride about 5 more miles and shut it off again. This time it started ok. On my way home it just quit in traffic. I coasted into a gas station and started playing with switches again. This time the bike would only run with the hazzard switch on. I started home with this switch on and now the gear select display is showwing a flat line for 1,2,and 3rd gear. #1 for 4th gear,2 for 5th and it flickers 5 and 6 for 6th gear.
I made it home, pulled in and the bike was on a fast idle. I shut the hazzard switch off and killed the motor. WTF??????????? I called the dealer and they're coming to get it. Funny thing is after it cooled down a bit it started fine so I let it warm back up alittle. The bike was idling fine then just shut off. It started again ok. The bike has problems!!!
I think the Harley Gods are punishing me!!! Anyone have any ideas?

Been a couple of threads here with these same issues. I'm pretty sure the cause of the problems was the battery cables not being tight enough.

Common problem on a lot of bikes....check those cables every time you change the oil.

Also, twice a year clean the terminal and apply some battery terminal grease. Helps with life on down the road...

When I pay $160 for an oil change - I EXPECT the dealer to do this other stuff. And they do - never had ANY of the problems I see reported here.
And at my age, getting down on the floor to do things - well, GRAVITY SUCKS. And the older you get, the MORE it sucks.

I LOVE my dealer..... Sea-To-Sky Motorsports, Langley, BC. But a new NESS with this problem? Find another dealer for YOUR maintenance.

After reading this today I ran out to check the cables. I did tighten them some so I got my hopes up. I called the dealer and told them to hold off till I ride it again. Went out and took off. Within 5 miles it did it again. The hazzard switch acts like the engine kill switch and will not run at all unless it's on. So I called the dealer back and they're coming to get it. Going to take quit a few miles of no problems to trust this bike. The worst thing is while the vision was setting in the driveway broke the guy I sold my Road Glide to rides by and honks. Really makes me wonder if I did the right thing.

Everything will work out. The fuel pump went out on my 06 Jackpot and fork seals went bad within a few months of purchase. Got'em fixed ( had to go to a second dealer) but haven't had a problem for four yrs of ownership, Things happen, try to be patient it will help.

Could be voltage regulator. Mine went out my 05 TCD and ran strange. Started out one day, ran fine for about an hour, stopped to get gas and it wouldn't start. After futzing around with it for about 30 minutes it started back up but ran like crap, stuttered, farted, choked, the MFD showed high then low volts. Stopped again, after about an our it started and ran fine, for about another hour then stated acting up again. Got it the dealer and they ended up replacing the regulator and all was good again.

Just talked to the dealer today and they think they found the problem. They said there were some wires that were on but not pushed completely on the terminals. They put about 12 miles on it today with no problems. They want to ride it some more tomarrow for a longer distance to see if there are anymore issues. I will ask just what wires they are so if it happens on the road I can check it myself. I will post what I find out.

Ness163, hope that cures your problems, nothing pisses me off more than a new bike with problems like you described. I have 515 miles on my new Vision and I am taking it for the "500 mile" check tomorrow. I love the Vision so far, however I still have my 2003, 47,000 mile RoadGlide also, hope the Vision can go further than that with no problems...............

Well the bike came back and I've put about 50 or so miles on with no problems. The mechanic said there were 2 wires on the right side down the handlebar tunnel that were on but not pushed on all the way. The guy I talked to on the phone thought they were plugged into a cable or something. Anyway they said they tightened them up and zip tied them tight so it shouldn't happen again. Does this make sense to anyone who knows?

you know for a while they had the same issues with the wires going to the fuse box...the terminal screws would loosen up and then the wires would back....its a common thing on many bikes with a vibration...two cylinder, loud bikes....or engines that shake(HD)...wires come losse with all the vibration.

I would say.,.. enjoy the bike and don't think your the only one with wires that shake loose after a while. Will it happen again....well who knows...just enjoy...

Just my thoughts....

Chalk it up to someone at the factory not pushing a connector together well enough. 15000 miles on mine and others have upwards of 70000 miles on theirs and this is the first I am hearing of an incident like this. If you have an allen wrench set, you could pull the center console and note the connector in question. Personally, I would make sure the connector doesn't come off with the zip-tie removed. If it does, you should get it replaced.

Well guess what? This thing did it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I checked the wires in question and they're plugged in. I unplugged and replugged still nothing. I am so p____ off! The weather is great and I can't ride my new bike. Good thing I didn't sell all my Harleys I wouldn't have a bike to ride at all. Dealer says Victory doesn't know what's going on either. At this point I wish I would have never saw this bike!
They're coming after it again.

Update, Bike is still in the shop. It's going on 3 weeks now. They claim they found the culprit. The rear wiring harness was bad. Supposingly it was energizing another wire in the harness. I'm guessing the hazzard lights. The harness was to be released on the 24th. I sure hope this is it. I have taken quite a bit of crap about this from my HD friends.

Finally after a month in the shop they're bringing it home Thursday. The rear harness has been on backorder from victory. Seems like they could have pulled one off the line or something. Total time in the shop 6 weeks. Total time in the saddle 2 hours!!! This better be the end of the victory gremlins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm ready to ride this thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An electrical gremlin....show me a manufacturer that hasn't had that kind of issue. When you get this bike out on the road running all the rest of the B.S. will fade away.

That is BS. You should not have to wait that long for any part. They are supposed to have a Bike Down service team (or some called like that) that is supposed to do what ever they can to get you any part is short order.

It is true about the Bike Down service team or not???? I remember that someone received a back brake line over night when it broke on them on the road.

I hear that it is free for the dealer to use the service...all they have to do is call the right people.

Not sure about the service team. Seems like if it was for real they would of used it this time.
Anyway the bike came back today and I took off right away. It was the section of harness about mid bike .So far everything is great. Put about 50 miles on. This is the first run with the Lloydes controller on. I think it runs better and is a little louder to. So far life is good!!!!!!!!!!!!!
