Well just got back from a Poker run here in Northern California and had two major problems. The first was the bike would not start. Not even turn over. I had turned the bike off with the kill switch and now it seems there might be a bad relay. I wiggled the kill switch several times and then the bike started. Had to turn the bike off maybe 6 more times through the day and using the key to shut down the engine I had no more problems.

Now the second problem has me stumped. When I would down shift from say 5th to 1st (Coming to a stop) The bike would downshift once then it didn't want to catch the gear and continue to downshift. More than once I would have to remove my foot from the shifter in order for it to reset and continue downshifting.

The bike is already going in for a new fuel sensor as the gas gauge hasn't been correct since I bought it in December.

I bought the bike brand new with no miles on it in December of 2009. Its a 2009 blacked out Vision Street Comfort

as far as the shifting goes, i know this might sound silly but how is the oil level?

I need to go out and check it. It just had its first servicing so I am assuming they didn't screw that up. But then again I am assuming lol

I had the same shifting issue when I got mine. I posted on here too, and was told about oil, and shoe size and all kind of stuff. The bottom line for me was to be a little more assertive in my stomp/downshift and also not to brake to a stop in 3 or 4th and then try to run thru all the gears at a stop (I rarely do that, but I did try to pay more attention).

The good news is my bike seemed to loosen up and find its way. After a thousand miles or so I never had the problem again (Every once in a while I will lazily downshift and it does hang) but it is certainly operator error.

Sounds like you may be downshifting a little too lightly on a new bike. My Harley never had this prob, so it may be a Victory thing, but trust me, mine is fine now and you are not losing your mind... I had the same problem. How many miles do you have on it?

You probably have a spider pod in the kill switch. For some reason they like to go inside the switch housing to lay their eggs. When there is power to the switch as in normal operation the heat builds just enough for the egg sack to swell and mess up contact. You can either pull everything apart and clean or just leave it and it will deteriorate on its own after a few rides.
As for the down shifting issue. Oil of course is the first check but if you are down shifting it is recommended that you let out the lever a little between and it should slide down smoothly. You will also want to check the shift linkage and lube it at the pivots. If out of alignment they will bind or if they become dry from washing, road rinse, etc... they'll bind. I use Belray waterproof grease on mine every few weeks but it is really up to you.

Well just wanted to give an update. I've been working so much this week I haven't had a whole lot of computer time.

The starting issue has become increasingly worse. It took ten minutes of trying to get it to start this morning just to get it to the dealership. You can hear a clank when you hit the start button but the starter is not turning over. It dies on me at work the other day as well and took 15 minutes to get it to turn over. Thankfully I was able to get it to the dealership and not have to have it towed.

Looks like I am going to be out a bike for at least a week. But hopefully all will be good when she gets back!
