Hey all.
I know I have not been on the forum much this winter but work has been busting my balls and with family shitt time just gets away. So i just took my vision in for it's spring service since the weather here in E-Wa state has been mild enough to ride the last few weeks. I had them install the new Victory cable for the ipods ($99) and so far it really seems to have fixed my isses with my ipod 3rd gen and 4th gen pods and all is working like it should so far. Only had it on for about week now so not sure how long term will go.

On another note my dealer said that Victory has a new firmware upgrade for the vision radios. the version I have is SW 5.13A HW:4. My local dealer said that they attempted to upgrade my radio but the system then locked them out after trying to upgrade it to the new version what ever that may be. So a call was made to victory and they said they have had serveral calls with the same issue on 08 Visions only. Apparently the 09-10 are taking the upgrade fine. Vicorty even had their software techs take over the my dealers system and attempt to figure out on my bike why it's doing this on 08 Visions only. So after about an hour or so the Victory techs gave up and said they need to figure out why it's happening and offer a fix as soon as they can. Now it did nothing to my system so all is still working fine. Like I told my dealer if it's not broke dont try and fix it since every thing is finally working like it should. The new cable seems to have been the trick to fixing my ipods issues.

Have any of you Vision owners got this firmware upgrade yet and if so what version is it and what year bike do you have.? I'm just trying to get a feel out there of whats happening. Take care all.

I have an 2008 . The original software was 4.08 A -SW hardware 4
On 1-28-10 updated the software to 5.21 A . The second reading for the hardware showed BB 5.14 A , 4
I have no clue to what the second reading means . The software fixed my systems glitches. It took about 15 min for the install at the dealer.

$99? The price doubled? Does it at least charge now?

Yeah - the new cable works to charge the 4th Gen iPod Nanos.  It has a different pin-out.  My solution was to buy a Scosche interface at WalMart for around 30 bucks.  It worked with my old cable and the iPod charges now.

OK, I'm not sure what software version I have on my 2008 Vision, but I got the new cable BECAUSE it charges the newer IPods. However, when I got it home, it doesn't hook up like the older one does. It has a dual harness with a three pin and a four pin hook up. The harness coming from the Vision only has the three pin. The four pin is the one that supposedly works for the newer IPods. So, I don't know if it will work for me or not (as an IPod cable), since only the three pin hook up will be connected. Even so, I probably will still need the converter (or whatever) to get it to charge the IPod........

Anybody got any suggestions?

As long as the new cable stops frying Ipods, I'll be happy.

I'm using with my iPhone 3G, it's kind of tight to put the inline charger on. I'm worried about cracking the circuit board on the phone. I keep a charger on the trunk for emergencies.

I bought mine a few weeks back from my dealer, who installed it before I finished paying for it. Works great!
Now - anyone want to buy a 10-CD SONY Changer?

Im looking for a cable that allows me to use my Iphone 3Gs on the bike to play its ipod. My current cable plays my Ipod and will charge it with the adapter but when i plugged my Iphone into it i got the "this device is not supported" notice
Anyone successfully running an Iphone on their bike?? Would like to hear the details even making it a new posting.

I've got the iPhone 3Gs as well. I think it's cheaper to keep your phone in your pocket, and buy a used iPod with a worn out battery off eBay and leave it plugged in all the time.
thats the route I'm taking

I already have the Ipod on the bike. I just ordered a new helmet and having headset installed. Was hoping to carry one less piece of equipment since my Ipod and Iphone are basically duplicates of each other music wise. Would be simpler to just use the Iphone for bluetooth cellphone use and music. thts my thought... so far

Just picked up 2 Nolan N43 Trillogys for my wife and I, and have added the N Com system for them and one for my Nolan N103
I'll have my iPhone 3Gs paired with my Zumo 550 and the Zumo paired to my helmet to take care of voice commands and incoming calls. The new software upgrade for the iPhone 3Gs will now support the ADAP (stereo bluetooth to a headset). So I could pair the iPhone independently of the Zumo, since the N Com allows 2 paired devices, but you cannot have intercom when you do that.

The other thing that I worry about is if I have music streaming into the helmet, I might not be as aware of what is going on around me, so I will elect to have the old iPod hooked into the bikes stereo system and play the music that way.

I also had an iTouch and I think I did damage the main circuit board pluging into the bikes connector, it's very limited for space in that side locker. The iPhone is bigger than the iTouch, so you could have a similar issue.

What brand of helmet and com did you purchase? Scala has a new model and Blue Ant has their F4 which according to Webbike World has superior sound and performance.

I ordered the Shark Evoline, saw it at the international motorcycle show and its A W E S O M E ! i like full face for distance riding and
sound insulation, but the fact that the flip face flips over the entire helmet and stores on the back of the helmet making it an open face is
amazing. Shark also designed it specifically for intercom use so there is plenty of room in front of your chin/mouth for the boom mike
so you dont feel jammed into the helmet. I put the Chatterbox XBi2 in the helmet which auto pairs to any other biker who has the same unit so you can communicate automatically. Im still trying to find a cable that will charge and play my Iphone3gS on the bike.

Read the reviews for that helmet and they were really good.
Shark helmets are no longer imported to Canada, so I couldn't find one to try on.
It was my first choice v/s the Nolan N103

I have the 08 Vision. It's time to replace my I-pod cable. Lucky for me it didn't fry my daughters I-pod. But the cable went bad. So if I purchase the new (99$) I-pod cable, can I buy the new I-touch and will it charge it. Or do I need to stick with the newest nano and will it charge it? There seems to be a question about the 3 pin connection on the 08 vs the 4 pin on the 09 -10 bikes. I really don't want to spend 99$ and not be able to charge the I-pod. Any help would be great.

thanks

CANDUbrain- Shark has a very accurate measuring device on their website so you wont make a mistake ordering size. The company I ordered from has a nice agreement. You pay for the shipping back to them, they do not charge you any outbound shipping no matter how many you have to try for fit. they can ship to Canada but it sounds like you already have your Nolan. I just really liked the flip over full face feature. Its really the best of both worlds

I was at a Canadian Victory Dealership 2 weeks ago, they received a mailing that there is now a third ipod cable. there was the white one, then the black one with the box in the cable. Now the third. I had them order one in for me. They said it arrived but I will not get to install it for a month, my bike is somewhere else. Anyway FYI ask your Dealer... Fits the crossroads as well. I am putting it on an 08 Vision.

Whinchey,

Did you get the new cable? What's the difference between this one and the black one with the box? And how much was it?

I need one for my bike.
