| Hey All I am looking to get my console cover powder coated Black. Has anyone done this? How does it look? Also, I looked at the 08 service manual. But I have an 09. Does anyone have an electronic copy of the 09 Vision that I can get a copy of? Is the console cover removal the same for both the 08 & 09? In the console cover removal instruction the first step is to remove the instrument bezel. I looked at the instruction for the instrument bezel removal and I am wondering if it as easy as it looks or are there a few words of wisdom anyone can give me to get it out without leaving any tool marks? And lastly, I have the Vision GPS Mount installed. Does this have to come off first before I can remove the cover? Thanks All |

Posts: 261 Sugar Land, TX (Outside of Houston) | Removing the console is a breeze. To remove the Instrument bezel, I use a plastic putty knife to wedge under the top right corner and twist slightly to begin removing the bezel. The mountong post will pull out just a bit with the twist. Do the same to the bottom right side to lift it up and then just work your hand across the bezel to pop up the left side.
You actually have to remove the console to get to the GPS Mount screws so yes, it stays on. If you can find someone who scanned the GPS Mount installation instructions, it is fairly good instructions of what you need to do to get all of the parts off of the console after i is removed.
The worst part is getting your hand under the console to remove the switch leads, the main console harness and the radio antenna connection.
Word of Wisdon - Put a soft towel on the left side of the console protecting the Console side paint. You will want to roll the console over to the left to pull off the wires and this will protect the paint on that side.
Write down the color of each wire and which switch lead it is connected to before you remove them. or you will be searching the forum for the correct wiring scheme for the Grip Switch like I did.

| Necktie - 2010-02-06 7:15 PM I was going to order the Ness console in black for $190 then discovered I could get it painted for $50. I was trying to decide between paint and powder coating for the console cover.... Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? |

Posts: 172 Prescott, Az | I don't know anything about powder coating. Can they do that on plastic? I thought PC had something to do with electricity & paint sticking to the electrified part. Whatever. All I know is for $50 I got a nice paint job that has held up real well. When I blacked out my brand new Viz last year I paid $450 to paint all the silver parts except the passenger grips. I still have silver passenger grips. I don't want to paint them because I use them to tie stuff down. I can't afford Ness grips (which may be powder coated for all I know) and I think having them chromed will cost more than I paid for the bike. |

| Powder coating is more durable than paint and looks just as good if properly done. I had mine done in Satin Black to cut down the glare. Total cost was $20. I'm very happy with how it turned out. |

Posts: 172 Prescott, Az | All my grey parts were painted with black auto body paint then cleared. I was worried it would not match since it wasn't factory Victory, but the bike looks great.

| Hey Bubba it looks great. I noticed, l;ike me, you have a powerlet on the console. Have you found the adapters that will take a normal sized car plug? Also, does anyone know if the new plugs that Victory offers on the 2010 will fit the 2009? Thanks |

Yes, I believe I got them from Vic or HD. Had it since I purchased the bike but never used it. |

Mine is powdercoated matte black I wanted a contrast to the high gloss and also show less scratches and lets all face it, this particular piece gets the most abuse and scratches on the entire bike. |
