Posts: 22 Springfield, MO | As a dealer who just traded from '07 hammer to the '08 vision, I'm asking what actual fuel mileage you are achieving. I love the ride and the handling of the vision (although I do miss my 11 second quarter mile times) but am slightly concerned with the fuel mileage. I filled up last night, 4.9 gallons worth, and compared with mileage on that tank put me at 29.* mpg. I know that with longer morning warm-up times the mpg's won't be stellar, but that is less than my hopped up hammer was getting in late november with more aggressive riding with same warm-ups. Vision is bone stock. I've heard tales of 40-50mpg (even passed along that info to buyers) so I'm asking what are you seeing as you fill up now? Actual numbers (miles ridden per fuel added) would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Wes

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | My average consistantly for the summer months is around 42mpg. In the winter it is around 36 - 38mpg. I'm a daily rider, winter or summer, rain and/or cold and I've had the Vision for 2+ years. The first few months the mileage was down around 32 and being winter, new and quick on the throttle all the time drove it down. As it got broke in and I changed my habits it got up to 36 - 38 and when the first summer hit it was 40+ all the time. 45 is the best I got on highway but I did some slow riding on the back roads for an extended time and that one got 48mpg or so. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Buying a new Vision in the dead of winter is the worst timing possible for gas mileage. The bike needs a couple of months for the "adaptive" fuel injection system to get used to your style of riding. Extreme changes in climate (MO winters) slow down the process. Couple this with the "winter" blend of the gas (which knocks a couple of mpg off by itself) and it is a worst case scenario. The bike will break in to your riding style about the same time the weather warms up with the better gas formula and you will be pushing 40 mpg on a stock bike easily. A summer day of twisties at 50 mph all day will get you into the 50 mpg range. Go to New England in the summertime and get some of that Sunoco with no ethanol and it will feel like a KevinX cam job in comparison to what you get now. |

Most of the premium around here is ethanol-free, I stay with those stations. Soon it will have our local 'mikey' cam job w/ S1L2.

Posts: 523 seattle, wa | I have an 08 with cams, Loyds VFC, and stage 1 pipes. Last tank I got 32 actual mpg. The on board computer says I am getting in the 40s but it aint so. I am positive that my bike is running rich as I have been fiddling with the VFC trying to get the popping to go away, I can get it reduced quite abit but the trade off is bad fuel mileage, I am going to put it back to the stock settings and see what I come up with. I would be happy to get around 40 mpg.
I am located in Seattle and routinely ride to work with the temps in the low 30s, the bike runs quite abit richer in these cold temps and the idle will stay over 1k rpm until the weather warms up. |

Wes,
My 08 consistently gets 41-43 riding two up.....has never done less than 36. This is actual figured mileage, not from the bike computer. My bike has 17K miles and is S1L1 with reflash.
When figuring mileage try to fill up at the same station, from the same pump, pointing the same direction as the Vision fuel tank is difficult to fill to the same level every time. I use 10% ethanol every time I fill up.
P.S. I bought my Vision from Cruisin" 66!!

Very doubtful, Sir. What stations do you patronize? Have you found a source of 93 octane? I would like some. All the Conoco, Phillips, Walmart/Murphy USA, Kum N Go, Caseys, and all the independents that I am aware of, have ethanol in all grades of their gas if it's 91 octane or less. We're stuck with it.
My fuel mileage is in line with what everyone else has said, generally in the low 40's in the summer. Got 52 mpg once down in Arkansas just putting around. Your mileage will improve after the bike gets some miles on it and the weather warms up.

Posts: 22 Springfield, MO | bike just turned 7,000 mi (factory demo). next week gonna throw a new set of plugs and a new air filter hoping that will make a difference. As far as springfield goes, the conoco at 65/sunshine has 93, the station on battlefield by BWW's has 93. Signal and a few others have posted "No ethanol in premium".
