Posts: 47 High Ridge, Mo. | I have a new admiration for the one per centers in my hood today. It turned 40 and sunny, so I was on a 3 hour interstate ride (the side roads are salt and cinder covered) and here I was comfy on the Blurred Vision. But those poor guys without windshields were HURTING! And hardtails to boot. That's real manhood. I felt guilty (but not for long) for having my long johns on. |

Oh, you might want to check the definition of 1%er. It has a lot to do with the lifestyle and very little to do with the way one pays their club dues. I would disagree that murder is the common initiation for 1% clubs.
Please be careful with such generalities. Thanks for reading.

| You are correct there is also stealing Harleys and chop shopping , selling drugs, fraud and extortion not to mention pimping and truck jacking and murder is not that uncommon of a initiation.Dont believe every thing you see on the Discovery channel. But other than that they are great guys and bring toys to kids in hospitals.

Posts: 47 High Ridge, Mo. | Maybe I should have used the term "Hard Core". I doubt if most of my neighbors are the one-per-centers, rather more just "Hard Core" riders that work their butts off for a living in construction. My apololgies for using the wrong term. MY FAULT. I AM SORRY AND MY HAT'S OFF TO THEM.

| I agree that those hardcore guys must be dedicated. However, a wise old soldier once told me that "any idiot can be uncomfortable in the field" and then went on to teach me the finer points of comfy living as a field soldier.... LOL |

That old dude I saw that cold, cold morning riding his Sportster with a small shield, wearing only his leathers, googles, shorty helmet sporting his long gray beard had a secret. I could tell as he had a big grin on his face.
I was patting myself on the back just a few moments earlier riding on my Vision, shield up, grips and seat on and wearing three layers of insulated clothing and it was 19 degrees out. I was thinking, man, it's cold, but I'm "hard core" on the Vision, then I see this guy, grinning from ear to ear and he threw up a casual wave like it was bike week at the beach.
he was my hero for the day as I humbly rode my 190 miles home. |
