| XRsteve, the "factory" 12 month warranty is excellent and Victory will pretty much authorize repairs for any problem you may encounter. The "extended" warranty can be a bit more iffy BUT not so much if you KNOW up front what it covers. The extended warranty is "breakdown" coverage so it will not cover things that are cosmetic or normal wear. For example if your power windshield motor were to go out it would be covered. But if a lense got foggy, chipped, etc, it wouldn't be covered. Best exampleI can think of for a non-covered item is the exhaust tips on mine. They are painted black which I mistakenly thought were a potted black material. I noticed a bubble but thought it was a casting thing because it felt solid. Shortly after the factory warranty ran out I noticed the end was actually chipped and then noticed it was lifting on both. It was disapproved for warranty because it is cosmetic. Had I turned it in to Victory prior to the 12 month mark they would have been replaced.
Some itemsyou can get repaired even though you have been initially turned down by the extended folks, but you need to "push" the issue.
Now here is the most telling comment I can make... Victory does NOT do a good job of communicating with owners, but if you are persistant they WILL fix anything that goes wrong with your bike, they want you happy is my take, but they could do a much better job with customer service relations/communication.
I had purchased a new 07 RoadGlide 9 months before buying the Vision. First thing I noticed on my ride home was the fairing was cocked to the right. I contacted the dealer who inspected it and called HD about the problem. HD's response was tough and live with it. They would not replace a fairing for being shifted to one side, obviously improperly drilled. Then I welded my jeans to my thigh twice, taking all the skin off when I removed my jeans, twice. We are talking a 4" by 9" patch of skin each time. HD's reply to the excessive heat issue was buy their plastic wings to divert some of the excessive heat. So not only would they not honor their warranty, but they expected me to buy more HD parts to address the second issue. Being a big dog in the MC sales industry I guess they figure screwing a few customers won't kill their sales, but it is a signal of how they treat their repeat customers (I've owned many new HD's).
Victory will stand behind their products, but they may need some encouragement from time to time.
PS, my dealer is great and goes well beyond to get me fixed up when necessary.

I have had several items that they handled for me and I am really pleased with their service. They go out of their way to make me happy and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Great folks! |

Posts: 2300 Georgia, west of Atlanta | Thanks Teach, very well put AND informative......I've had my 03 Road Glide a little over six years now and I got the "extended" seven year warranty, it's been pretty good and I've got em for a cruise control module and a ECM. The bike has 44,150 miles on it. I'll now always get the extended warranty because these new bikes have so much electronics there's no way I can fix em at home anymore.....The Vision being even newer I'm sure is an "electric" boat also........... |

Posts: 619 Southeast Iowa | Teach did a good job explaining the "overall" warranty experience. Having a dealer that has a positive relationship with the mother-ship is important. I had a few issues with my Vision that Victory did not want to correct. Once I got Victory's attention I received better support than I could have hoped for. Victory is a good company and wants to do the right thing, but sometimes the people in the middle handle things poorly. I have 2 friends that ride HD's (not bashing HD but that's what they were riding) that have had small issues with brand new bikes and their dealer said tough luck. One had the antenna whip break while riding during the first week of ownership. Dealer told him he would sell him a new one and suggested that he upgrade to the stubby. The other one had a shifter peg and bolt fall off going down the highway on his second week of ownership. Since it was a Screaming Eagle it was a nice peg that got scratched up. Dealer said "to bad" and sold him a new peg and bolt. I don't know how most of you view this but if I just bought a brand new bike that has parts break by themselves or has shit fall off in the 1st few weeks somebody other than me is going to pay for it. I would have expected the dealer to give me the replacement parts and apologized for any inconvenience. |

The owner rides a Vision, the mechanic rides a Vision, and when ya walk in its like going back in time, when motorcylcle shops were just that. Good comradre and no foo foo crap. Have had one warranty issue and it was bring her in and well take care of it....while I waited even.

Posts: 311 Atlanta Area | I have had a stator and radio control pod replaced under warranty... Absolutely no questions asked. Get job by my dealer as well as Vic... Couldn't be happier in that regard... |

| G'day from down under, have been away for a while, how is everyone. No prob's with the cruise control and better when towing a trailer, but still have a problem with my 08 Tour Prem' cutting out during deceleration while hot. Was there any consensus what causes this in the 08 Visions. Due to put it in for a service and have the local Dealer (Redline - Mackay - Qld, Australia) lined up to sort it for me.....would like to provide them info' to make sure they are across what is causing it....last time on the site, everyone was still unsure..
