Yes - I'm interested in the same thing - I got an I-POD NANO 16GB for Xmas from Co-Pilot (and I unknowingly bought her an 8GB NANO for her new car - makes me the cheap bastard) - my first load of music was 600 songs - about a weeks worth of 8 hour days without repeats - and it took a little over 1/4 of my 16GB. Yikes.
I have a factory 10CD Changer in the trunk, and my thinking is to remove it - takes a lot of room and 10 CD's is only about 4-5 hours before starting back at the beginning.
Anyone with NANO experience on their Vision out there??????

Gen 1-3 Nanos are the best fit for the older iPod cable...

I have an iPod Touch as well. I actually use a generic adapter made to convert the newer gen iPods to old Gen accessories. It works okay but I have to cram the whole thing in my glove box tight because of the adapter + iTouch height now. It is also quirky in that it won't do playlists so I have to start the thing to playing a playlist before connecting it but that may just be MY bike's radio. On the Nano, Gen. 3 and below charge. The largest size offered for the 3rd Gen. was 8GB. The 4th Gen. Nano's do not charge just like the Touches (I had one of these for awhile).

Hello everyone!

Please read the first three pages and the last page of the document at the link below and let me know if you have any more questions.

http://hamelmer.com/Docs/VictoryVision_iPodNotes.pdf

FYI, There is supposed to be another cable for the iPod available that does not need an adapter for charging the newer iPods. I have not seen anyone post that it really, definitively exists and works as billed. I do have my fingers crossed that it does work.

donetracey, Vic has a new cable but the dang thing is $100. Will probably be worth it if you use an Ipod a lot as they say it eliminates all the problems associated with the previous (junk) cable. My understanding is it eliminates the charging issue associated with the newer Ipods also. It is listed on the pure polaris site.

Thanks Tim. I bought Co-Pilot a ton of 'extras' for her ipod - thinking about her new Smart - but all of the stuff will work with the vision - just needs a standard 12V outlet - i.e. Cigarette lighter.
But Yah! A single connection that charges/plays the I-pod would solve everything.
We are OFF TO ALASKA on our VV this coming summer - and I think Ipod will make 'boogying down the hwy' much easier to deal with - there will be NO FM STATIONS - and the room I will gain by removing my 10CD changer will give me at least 5 fresh pairs of clean undies..... and maybe a quart of Grey Goose.....

Just to give you an idea of how much room the 10CD Changer takes up ....

I wonder how far one could extend the data and audio cables? It would be an interesting exercise to mount the CD player in the trailer.

Than again, maybe I just need some coffee.....

I'll have to double check, but I just bought a new cable a few weeks ago, but I thought it was the same old cable they always have had. It works better than my "old" one that would frequently disengage when I would hit a bump. I figured it got that way from the constant plugging and unplugging. The new cable will do the same, but it has a better connection. I've got a piece of foam you would think would cushion the shock, but I guess not. I use the older generation iPod Touch.

HERE IS THE INFO
The 2008 cable is missing the "re-charge" pin, so it will do everything but charge your unit.
There is an adapter that you can buy that plugs between the cable and your Ipod that will allow it to charge. I purchased it and it works very well with no issues.
The new 2010 cable has the pin back and will charge the Ipod.

HOWEVER There are certain models of Ipods that will not work. I dont have the models but I can tell you, if you have the original big one thats the size of a deck of cards, the 2008 unit will not work. Also if you have the new little one that has no screen on it and is about 2x2 inches it will not work on the 08 cable either. The model that will work on the 2008 cable is the NaNo (its about 1 1/2 inches wide and about 3 inches tall, top half of unit is screen, bottom half is round dial.) If someone needs the link to the
company who can sell you the adapter, please let me know, i will get it for you. Its not large about same width as the ipod and 3/4 inch tall black.

Drove to my dealer Sea-To-Sky Motorsports today - bought the I-POD cable - and before I finished paying for it, my original Sales Rep - Nick - had the service guys install it.
As usual for me - GREAT DEALER RELATIONSHIP !
Anyone want to buy a SONY 10 CD Changer (see picture above somewhere) ????? Got no room for it when we go to Alaska this summer!

I can confirm the wild rumors of the new cable working to charge newer iPods. I have a 09 Vision and purchased a newer style iPod cable (make sure your dealer gives you the right one . . . mine gave me on for a 2010 and the connectors are different!) and have it connected to a brand new million Gig iTouch (well, maybe not that big). All works well AND it charges without the need for an adapter or custom wiring. Now if I could just get the Cover Flow album cover art work to show up on my touch screen Garmin . . . . oh, that may be another thread!

Man314,

Can you let me know the iPod cable part number that works for your 2009. It would be also nice to know the part number for the 2010 Visions.

I will then edit my iPod docs and re-publish them.

Thanks,

RT
