Posts: 126 Meadow, Texas | I was looking at my new Vision last night and noticed something odd. On the clutch and brake lever there is a small slot about an inch (?) from the end. It only goes about halfway up the lever and is only about an 1/8 in. deep. I'm fairly sure that other Vision have this and was wondering if this is some great mod that the company did or is it just something for the machine to line up in the manufacturing process.
Like I said - just something odd I noticed.

If you were in a wreck sliding forward the lever may catch on the pavement forcing it backwards pinching your hand between it and the grip. If the lever was to break at this point the handlebar would still be touching the pavement but the lever would not therefore releasing your hand. This is my best guess and seems reasonable to me. Anyone else have something better? |

Levers are relatively cheap and easy to replace in the event of an accident. The "perch" that they are attached to is much more expensive (and probably cast in a more brittle alloy).
My guess is that they are designed that way so that they protect the most expensive and critical part of the control perch and leave enough functionality on the lever itself that if its possible for you to limp home after an accident you can still use the clutch.
