Posts: 3204 Memphis | Sorry. Good article. Really points out the modern vs dated differences between the bikes. The Good: Road Glide: They gave the Road Glide points for throttle-by-wire, ABS and "infotainment" options. They liked the classic styling and called the engine a "more charismatic" piece. The mechanical quality and low-end power delivery were more pleasurable on the Harley. They also said that the Road Glide has lighter low speed steering and is a better bike around town.
Vision Street: Excellent linked braking system, power windshield, heated grips, heated seats, adjustable lower fairings, iPod, wind-tunnel designed air pocket. Styling - "Art Deco locomotive and George Jetson's sky scooter." They then pointed out the 'clean-sheet" design/engineering. Head-to Head: The Vision has 18 more horsepower and 18 more foot pounds of torque than the Harley. "In any contest of acceleration, the Vision flat spanks the Glide, though curiously both top out and the exact same 108.9 mph." Here are the last three paragraph's of the article: "It is out on the open road where the Vision wins back an advantage. It's not a question of smoothness - the Harley's rubber mounts do a great job of resolving vibration - it's just that the Glide's drafty old barn door of a fairing can't compete with the Victory's wind-tunnel-tested bodywork and the impressive still-air pocket it generates. Road Test man Don Canet was particularly put off by the Harley's buffeting at helmet level, noting, "Riding this bike with a hangover should be part of a 12-step program!" At a moderately brisk backroad pace, both bikes do well and have decent cornering clearance, but start to get serious about making time and the Harley folds its tent, the lightly damped fork and steel-tube frame getting decidedly willowy. And so it was on a mountain road two hours from hearth and home, with both night and temperature falling, the choice between these two bikes is pretty clear." Written by David Edwards.

Posts: 175 Colorado | I know it does more than 108.....where does that crap come from? Does Victory hand them a bike with a strict govenor on it? Or did they not take it past 5th gear in some attempt to keep it even. |

Posts: 550 Tacoma, WA | I liked the article. I sent it to my Dad, who will most likely get himself a bike this year. He is really eyeballing the Ultra, the Goldwing, and my Vic. I will be letting him ride it as soon as the pass is clear for me to get over there!----Metalguy |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | They do not say how the max speed limit was derived. Maybe that is as fast as their insurance company will let them print on a touring bike. I have read here the words of many honest folk on vision-riders.com boast achieving over 115 MPH on a Vision.
I disagree with the authors' assessment of the Vision slow speed capabilities. I feel that the reviewer needed more experience with the Vision. From what I have read here, the Vision can slow speed corner with the best of them. It is odd that this article and the Motorcycle Cruiser article made a comment about this non-issue.
In the end it was a very good review.
Has anyone heard rumors on what the 2009 models will add to the 2008's?

Posts: 177 NW Illinois | I was going to buy either a new ultra or the street glide until I rode the vision
I took the Vision out then when up the road to ride the new ultra except for more power than my 1996 I could not tell the diffrence, hell if I would have bought the same color as my 96 nobody would even have known I bought a new bike.
After the ultra I took the Street Glide out, now this was the second time I had test road the street glide and there is no comparison when it comes to ride and handling the Vision won hands down.
Also to add a slightly taller windshield and up the cubic inches to 103 and put a detachable trunk on the bike Im at least 4000.00 more than the vision
Yes the street glide is a nice looking bike so I guess bar to bar, or to pose your ok with the street glide but if you want to RIDE, Vision wins hands down IMO |

I firmly believe what the true tester writes get edited based on who is spending the most on ads in the rag. Enough said, WE are the experts, and WE know which is the best. Spread the word. |

Posts: 550 Tacoma, WA | I tested out the ultra, the Goldwing, and the Victory, and it is like he said, the Vision was just the best there was. I highly reccomend riing every bike you want to compare with, just to see how YOU feel about them. Be honest with yourself, and open minded, and you cannot go wrong, whichever you choose!-----Metalguy |

Posts: 1324 So Cal | I think many of the riders that give these reviews are thrown off by the ease of handling When they're on the Vision. If your not used to it, its very easy to over compensate. It took me a while to learn to let the bike do all the work. Now, this thing handles like its on rails, at any speed. |

Posts: 74 MN. | I've seen now 3 different articles now, where Victory has won in comparsion tests over HD. But I guess that's to be expected. I am impressed with the hp and torque readings vs. the HD. And in the CycleWorld test, the HD was a STRONG running 96, with 70.3 hp and 87.4 ft of torque, yet the Vision (Street version) still pounded it. The quarter mile was put away in 13.72 @93.73 for the HD, 12.92 @99.75 for the Vision. 6 tenths of a difference up to 60 mph. The Vision outweighed the Road Glide by 62 lbs, so it had some weight to overcome. |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | Just got this magazine today. It looks like to me this Vision may have been one of the test mules or one of the Visions they had on the demo ride. It has the fairing wind deflectors which no dealer has yet, but some demo bikes had them. Also, it very well may have a rev limiter and that maybe the reason for the low top speed. |

Posts: 82 Northwest of you | I read the article (and have read others). There must have been six or more HD ads throughout the mag (none for Victory) Most money that mags get is from ads, I think these writers try very hard not to pissoff their advertisers. To the degreee that is true, in this case, the Vision wholuped Harley. |

Isn't it against the rules to post a naked motorcycle?
