| Cruising down PCH today and traffic behind me started honking and two people rushed up to me to tell me a "big ol' piece of my bike fell off".
Long story short-- it was my right side gatling gun exhaust tip.
I trolled PCH for over an hour and could not find it! DAMN!
I bought it and had it installed at the dealer about 1500 miles ago when I bought the bike brand new. This HAS to be covered under warranty, right?
Does it look like a weld snapped? I don't know how these things are installed, but comparing it to the other one (and there is a jagged edge/lip where the hole is now) makes me think that a flange for the bolts broke off with the tip itself.
Well, what do you guys see here?
Thanks

Posts: 935 Rockford, IL | Yeppers....you are correct. There is supposed to be a flange off the muffler that the tip bolts to, and your flange is gone. First time I've seen or heard about this happening. Is there any chance at all you might have possibly backed it up into a curb anywhere? However...even doing this I pretty much doubt it would break the flange off. And there isn't any damage to the lower valance panel. As far as warranty taking care of this. I would tend to think that it would. I can't see why they wouldn't, unless they could somehow 100% prove that you were somehow the cause of it, which I highly doubt you were. Appears to be some type of wierd & rare failure.

| CURB! How dare you! hahahah. But, no, I did not. Imagine how hard you would have to hit a curb to break the weld. It may be possible, but I would assume it have to leave some other evidence of stress or damage.
There is no curb issue here. Literally fell off while cruising at 50 mph down sunny PCH. This bike rarely sees dust, and certainly never a curb.
Off to the dealer I go.....
Thank you! |

| I think your dealer should step up to bat on this one then he/she can decide to try to get reimbursed from Victory. If it was a bad install or a defective part the mech should have caught it. |

Posts: 311 Atlanta Area | Not only do you need a new fluted tip, but you also need a whole new muffler... Unfortunately, the tips and mufflers are sold in pairs... Your looking at big bucks if the dealer can't help you... |

| Yes, and the dealer sold me his own custom pipes as an upgrade.... would that broken piece be a part of a different-than-stock pipe? |

| Victory! Spoke with dealer this morning, they were very very nice. Did not even need me to bring the bike in for inspection. Took me for my word, said they would order new parts and see me in about a week. All under warranty.
That is very cool. They have downsized due to economy, but they are hangin in there for us. I will be loyal to them more than ever now.
CYCLE DRAGON in Cerritos CA. They are really great. (and sponsors on here too)
Thanks for the help guys. |

More than a few folks here looking for pipes, even one with a missing flange. And also keep the left Gatlin tip, somebody here will probably end up needing one somewhere in the future. This is assuming that the dealer has to order the pipes & tips in pairs. |
