Posts: 725 Reno County, KS | Last year I had someone blow through a stop sign in front of me on a wet interstate ramp. This was about 1 week after someone sideswiped my bike on the same side in a hotel parking lot. Not a good month for Jane. I was pretty sure I was going to go over the handlebars so laid her over instead. Then I knew I was going to be wedged under the back the car but fortunately ended up lying on the pavement alone instead. I ground about 40 yards of wet pavement and about 2 inches off the front tipover, about 1/2 inch off the rear tipover, rashed out the paint on the right side and busted up my fairing and saddlebags. I slid through the ramp and ended up on the shoulder of the freeway on my side. Between the tipovers and the full fairing I was protected the whole time. The driver was never identified. The guy behind me did not get the car plates because he was watching my bike go over. A white Caprice Classic and tail lights in front me of is all we could recall. It's a sick sound when she finally hits pavement. You'll never forget the sound of that crunch. The tipovers do work at high speed until you grind them down to the point that you're too top-heavy. After yards of grinding, she finally went over. I had already ordered all the painted parts because she was side swiped the week before. I went ahead and ordered all the busted up stuff the next week. I ended up having to strip her completely down to the frame to replace all the parts. I should have turned it into insurance but I let the cop talk me out of making a report because I wasn't hurt and had no plate numbers. That was a lesson learned for sure. It took me over 7 months to get all the parts in from Polaris because they wouldn't release them raw and lost their mold/paint vendor. It took me over six months to get all the parts in from Polaris because they wouldn't release raw plastics and lost their production vendor. Anyway, here was the damage.

Posts: 725 Reno County, KS | I did the work myself since I had no way to know what the damage would total. Over six months later and no local dealership, it was not going to be pretty. victoryindianmaine saved me a ton of money. The didn't have the parts in stock but ordered them. If Polaris had not screwed up the packaging of the front outer leg fairing, it would have been a six month wait. Because the outer leg fairing showed up broken and scratched (they packed it paper and a weak box), it would have taken much less time. Thanks again to Victoryindianmaine. |

Just finished replacing the lighted medallion on the left side. That is almost the same disassembly on the front end, down to the frame, just to remove two screws to let it loose. What a pain!! |

I needed most of the same parts, plus a windshield and headlight. Except for the rear tip-over there was no damage in the rear. Insurance claim through Victory dealer. Total estimate $6700. |
