First off I'm a huge Gerbing fan but the Mrs doesn't ride enough in colder temps to make the purchase worth while so instead I'm looking at a heated jacket liner so she will be more comfy in temps below 65 degrees. Yes I know 65 is qute warm for riding but she chills easily which normally means shorter rides.
There are basically 3 liners on the market with a high collar the Gerbing at $199, the Tourmaster at around $179 and the First Gear around $189. I'm leaning towards the Tourmaster simply because it uses carbon fiber heating blocks instead of the wire loop used by the other two, BUT I'd like to hear from folks that are presently using one of them.
All input is appreciated and thanks in advance................ T

Gerbings has new stuff out called Microwire.  Developed for the military, heats instantaneously.  The vest has a high collar and is $139.95.

Jacket liner is Microwire also.

I was just on their site when I saw this post.  Lifetime warranty on the wiring.

Thanks SF. I'd like to do a vest but I think she'll need the jacket.
True story: Two years back I was returning from a trip in a terrible thunderstorm. Had a bike in my rearview for close to an hour when I finally decided it was time to pull off for a smoke and drip dry. Much to my surprize the bike behind me pulled off as well. We got to talking about the ride how much further we were going and ride gear. He waskitted out in Gerbing gear from head to toe and loads of bike accessories. As it turned out he was the Gerbing rep from the east coast which covers a very large territory. I was surprized to find one guy covered that much area but to boot he rides everywhere. Anyhow he offered to send me a free set of gear and gave me his card. I politely declined as that is simply who I am and have since lost his card, but a truly nice guy to chat with. I'm sure I'll bump into him again on the road to chat about rides and weather.

I have had the tourmaster jacket liner for almost 2 years and it works great I hardly ever turn it on past low(it comes with a controller with low med hi.When I bought mine you had to pay extra for the controller on the gerbing.I also like the feel of the carbon fiber wiring instead of the copper wire in the gerbing

I highly recommend Aerostich: http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-suits/kanetsu-electrics/aerostic...
It's a little more $$ but it's worth it. Fit and function are great. Just using the Vest I can ride in the teens. 16 Deg is my record. Mine is 5 years old, heavily used and still works great

Is there a powerlet adapter that would attach to the Tourmaster plug in for 12v. I already have a powerlet accessable to use. I can't tell the type of plug in it has. Also is the controller included? Thanks

I purchased the tourmaster last year, I ran a hot wire from the battery to come out from under the seat for the passenger, she has the jacket liner, the pants which she wears like chaps and the gloves, they work very well, and I get 2 to 3 more months of riding time. Well worth the money

I and my wife have a few Gerbing peices and could not be happier... Wondered several times why we waited so long in getting them.

My wife suffer from cold weather issues as well and 65 is her lower limit I bought her a Widder Vest with Arm chaps and electric gloves they are made to all hook together. She loves if becaues the bulk of the second jacket made her uncomfortable but the arn chaps cover the tops of her arms and that was what she needed. I have a Corbin heated seat and with all that she is good to go. Archie

I picked up a Dalby creek jacket for the WU and sent my Victory leather jacket liner to Gerbing to have it wired up. My jacket liner doesn't heat my neck, but for $169 it was worth it.

I looked at the Gerbing and TourMaster liners and ended up buying the TM - both a vest and a full jacket liner w/ sleeves for all weather conditions. The thing that turned me off on Gerbing was the bulky wiring, the need to buy additional controller/harnesses and the high power draw on the alternator. The TM stuff was less expensive, the controller is built-in and easier to use (click stop lever vs. Gerbing's rheostat which is harder to use w/ gloves). I have been quite happy with the TM gear and have ridden at interstate speeds in the low 40's temp. That makes the wind chill even lower. With the heated jacket and Vision's heated seat and grips, I was fine. In fact, the TM liners rarely need to be set above low or medium. The TM simply plugs into the powerlet on the console of the Vision (if you have it installed). The Gerbing can be (at least when I looked at it a couple of years back) a bulky mess of wiring. Hope this helps.

I would agree, somewhat, with your assessment. I wish I had purchased the permanent controller setup instead of the portable one.

Anybody using the Victory heated jacket liner? Any idea who makes it for them?

In the unusual category for cold weather wear, I saw someone on 95 last winter with what appeared to be a quilted horse blanket draped across their lap. It covered all the way down to the pegs and was wide enough to cover from the crash bars to past his legs. Guessing that it created a nice little oven. Amazingly it wasn't flapping in the breeze at all (lined with lead or tethered down well). Not saying that it looked like a must have, but it was certainly a neck jerker. One in black with a Vision Rider logo anyone?

I have the tourmaster vest, and pants. They both come with controllers, and can be used independantly, or both plugged in together, just using the vest controller. I am quite happy with them, and the price is right, as well. I have had them both a year, and the only regret I have is not having bought the jacket instead of the vest. The arms get cold in the teens.-----Metalguy

Thanks ever so much guys for all the input. I'm going to order up the TourMaster and the powerlet lead designed for it. If she still gets chilled I'll pick up the pant liners. Thanks....... T

I just ordered from here:
http://www.heatedclothingoutlet.com/index.shtml

They have last year's gear jacket liner for 139 and pant liner for 129.

They have a few things but OOS on the controllers. I read in another forum that this is Gerbing's outlet store. I had bought some stuff locally but decided to order from here and saved over 200 dollars. I had bought my wife and I both gear. I read that the new microwire stuff did not heat evenly..so i am sticking with last year's..

HelmetCity.com or PhatsPerformance.com have the best deal going on the TourMaster liners. $161.99 for the full liner. Just bought the full liner a week ago from Helmet City and they shipped it overnight. It says 2 business days on their website, but it got to my house the next day. Too bad I haven't been able to ride with all the storms we've had this week!
