Nice Bikes. I will say they have a niche, most folks complimented the larger bags. Not that I'm not impressed with them, it just allows me to haul more unnecessary stuff.

I sat on both of them, but there was no way to test ride them, and that is key for me, how do they ride? They felt very light but they weigh less then the Vision and not have a trunk sitting up high made some difference also. They were comfortable sitting as expected, but so was the lowered Road King I sat on with the modified seat. But there is the key, the HD had to modified with a lowering kit and seat, but the vic is stock standard. Even lowered the HD was still taller for me than I wanted, though I could put my feet flat on level ground.

There are a lot of things that impressed me about the Xers, but I'll leave it at that. I didn't find anything that would make me want to X over....

On another note, the Victory cleaner people was there and the dude had the audacity to bust on my dirty bike and talking of resell value, yada, yada. I did buy some stuff, but let him know that I rode everyday and that my Vision would have the wheels worn off before I would think of getting a new one and resell value means absolutely nothing to me. Fortunetly I met a few other "slackers" that were daily riders and their bike was just as dirty or worse, but I think we had the biggest smiles on our face over where we've been and not what polish we use.

The cleaner people used my bike to demonstrate some of the things the pure Victory stuff would do. All good stuff...

Just wanted to through this one over the fence about the cross bikes and share my thoughts of the day at the dealers open house and unveiling.

Good food, good deals, good music, good friend, all made for a good time.

My dealer will have 1 of each next Saturday for people to look, touch, and feel. No riding since they belong to Victory and are traveling from dealer to dealer just for show and tell. Next Saturday is also the day my wife picks up her new Cross Roads from the dealer.........I'm going to feel real bad when all the people that showed up to LOOK at the new X bikes have to WATCH as mama takes her new ride for a spin. Hell, if I'm lucky she may even let me ride it!

I'm a little disappointed wih the lack of demo riding offers with the X bikes. I'm a firm believer you sell more bikes when you get folks in the saddle.
Seat height really isn't an issue with me but rider ergo's are. I've found from years of riding HD's that if a lower saddle height is a deal breaker the dealer will throw in a lowering kit ($90) to make the sale. That said Victory's real target was the street glide rather than the RK. Yep I know they have two X bikes one with a windshield, but I think the target was the low slung bike, street cruiser and not the long range tour model RK. At least thats what Arlen said when he was here before the X bikes were made public.
We'll have to wait here to see one in person as they haven't arrived as of yet.
Resale value? LOL.........

Sheesh, that guy'd shit a gold brick if he saw my bike right now. It's filthy, full of mud from the several days of rain we've had and even still has all the bug guts on the windshield and front from before the temps dropped and the bugs all died off. But, like VA, I've been riding everyday, rain or shine and regardless of the cold temps. It might hit 50 some time this week and not rain, so I'll try to wash it then.

And if I were that concerned about resale value I wouldn't have bought a Vic in the first place.

I think that they have some issues with the display bike that I saw last Friday in San Antonio.

When you turn fully to the right lock the cable bundle on the right side under the triple tree is in the clear below any pinch area.

When you turn fully to the left lock the cable bundle on the left side under the triple tree is in the pinched between the cast frame and the lower part of the triple tree.

There was a hole in the frame that looks like a cable hold down Should Be installed in to hold the wires out of the way.....but nothing is there.

Ride Safe

This was the same on both the Cross Country and the Cross Roads I saw.

The rep I spoke with At Polaris West in Katy, Tx said the actual production bike might have slight diferences. That's why there are no test rides. They want people to test ride actual production bikes at the dealer so hey dont get that "Hey this isn't like the demo" reaction.

The only real issue I found on the X bikes was that the passenger floorboards on the XC were either too high or too far back. My SO who is 5'3" found that her feet rested too far forward so her feet were nearly hanging off the floorboard. A minor issue to me but because of it she preferred the XR to the XC. Grrrr.....

You don't grocery shop on motorcycles? I usually need a destination for a ride. I also like to hit up a Wal-mart or Sam's club Several Away, not the closest one. There is no replacement for displacement in both Luggage capacity & engine size. It cracks me up that Victory claims to have interviewed riders for the R&D of the Vision, and the saddlebags ended up as small as they are. Did they ask the opinions of bar hoppers only?

To end on a positive, did you see Cruiser magazines shoot out of big tourers? The Vision came out on top again & again. They totaled the Goldwing early on, but didn't explain how?

reality check....

there are many factors arguable about the bags being bigger on the Vision. Yes, I go shopping on my Vision, and I have straps to latch things down with if needed, however, If I want to get a flatscreen TV or a weeks worth of groceries I ride with the wife unit in her cage. I shudder to think that if they made the bags larger on the vision of what the trade off would be? Wider tail, less aerodynamic, greater weight, etc...? I might as well buy a wing if I thought shopping took priority over riding. Sometimes it is hard to improve on perfection, however, I'm sure they are working on VisionII, which is not the bagger Vision. I'm sorry, my affinity is for the streamlined "this is the way I am made" look. Even the trunk looks to be a permanant fixture, but the beauty is that I can it off and make it look like it is made to be a street, ingenious. Try taking your trunk off you E-glide or Wing and what you have is an ugly bracket, then I really don't know, I just seen one like that once, because it is not made to pop off like the Vision.

The saddlebags on the cross makes the tailend look larger than the Vision, and I would hate to think the way the bike would ride with you, the pillion and bags full of groceries headed out for the weekend. If you need to haul that much stuff it is time to get a trailer, as is my plan before spring. I want to take my honey places but she has to have her "stuff". Me, a toothbrush, a couple pair of skivies, t's, socks, wash cloth and a bar of soap and I'd be set, and I don't even need the trunk for that, and I still would have all my whinny ridin' gear.

Ahh, no trailer I see. Just kidding. That only hooks to the Goldwing in our house. Hey, my roughing it is your pampered. You'd survive longer in the wilderness then I. I am still waiting for the Air Conditioned touring bike.

really nothing wrong with that, you ride and really that is all that counts. I saw a couple out on an older Yammy and they were an older couple. I could see the want in the pillions eyes as I passed by clinging to her man. The passion to rides overwhelmes what we ride, as long as we get to ride....
