Aubrey, TX | After riding from TX to TN in the rain most the way a few weeks ago and wearing my 6 year old Harley boots(not waterproof) and my feet getting soaked, I am in the market for some waterproof boots that are lighter than the ones I have. It seems after riding a long time my feet get heavy and have found my boots are just not good for "real" riding even though the look cool. I am looking for some boot ideas. I am leaning toward the tactical type..these just seem to fit the bill(made for walking). I have run across these http://www.copshoes.com/c-converse-motorcycle-boots-p-C-8878.html..... I am looking for some ideas and what people have used with success.

New Bohemia, VA | I just wear a good tony lama cowboy boot with skid soles and wear chaps. the weather protection on vision for the feet so far has worked for me, keeping the boots polished and waterproofed also seems to help. I've rode in the pouring rain for over a hundred miles which took almost a week to get my leathers dried but the boots were okay. |

I ride wearing Red Wing motorcycle boots. Take good care of them mink oiling whenever they need it but when it pours my feet get soaked. I have been investigating the most logical way of dealing with it and found some emergency rain boot covers that can easily be stored on the the bike. Check out this site http://www.aerostich.com/. Aerostitch makes the best and this might be a good way to go. |

Brighton, TN | hmm, I went from one topic to the next, when I replied. Not sure what happened in outer space.
Wolverine makes a winter and waterproof boot, that is laceup or pull on. The laceups I have are wonderful for keeping your toes dry. I normally just wear wolverine pull on type boot, non waterproof. My next set for summer use, I need to go see if they have something.

These have replaced everything. Ordered a 2nd pair for offshore work (thats what the first pair WAS going to be) They ride real nice on the bike. No troubles with the pegs at all and VERY protective. I have a set of custom $400 boots sitting in the closet now next to 3 pairs of RedWings and 2 pair of Wolverines (work gave me these). I wear steel toes 24/7. These suckers are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. The closest thing I have found to walking shoe comfort in a boot. I keep trying to find a friends that could use the rest of them that I own since they're relatively new (just broke in). Guess GoodWill is in their future. |

But because I ride a Victory, I ride instead of walk! My roomate in my hooch when I was in Camp Taji Iraq had the Converse boots at the top of the page..they aren't waterproof, but he said they were way comfy, even in the heat we had there. -------Metalguy |

Arkansas | If you don't consider Cruiserworks, you're really not getting the full picture. I've bought 8 pairs
of various brands and types and I kick myself for letting them just sit around unworn because I always
wear my Cruiserworks. You can stand in a bathtub of water for a week and your feet will be
dry. You can wear them at work and not be out of place. (unless you wear them with a suit,maybe). |

Tucson, AZ | I wear the Red Wings with carbon fiber toe. Lightest workboot i could find that I can wear for work. Also I can wear these all day right out of the box. Never needed the couple of breakin weeks and have found even on days off this is the pair of boots i choose.

L.I., N.Y. | I asked a similar question last year and got alot of good input I'll post the link and I ended up with Fyre boots. and have loved them ever since. I haven't been caught in the rain yet. I got the belted harness in 12 inch protect great against the right side muffler heat, ok down to 21 degrees, they've been okay so far, and I can kick the boots off with having to sit down or losing my sock bonus. This will be the first full winter with them. I also had vibram put on the leather sole to give me traction on the asphalt and damp streets. Southeast, AZ United States | I bought these and can't say enough about them, not only are they waterproof, they are also lined and keep my feet warm in the cold. They also don't get so hot that riding in 90+degrees isn't that big of a deal either.

| I bought my first MC specific boots this last spring, TourMaster Response SC road boot. My initial impression was they were stiff but within a day they were extremely comfy. I've ridden with them in temps over 100 and down into the 20's, comfy at all temps and completely waterproof. Really good grip when you put your foot down and really lite. I like to rest my heels on the floorboards and front tip overs and nothing digs in when I do this. Cost has been under $100 most places online.
The only down side to these boots is that the soles do wear rather quickly. I average around 12-15k a summer (4 months of riding weather here) riding and I do a considerable amount of walking while sight seeing during those summer miles. I figure 3 summers before they will need replaced due to the soles. Hope this is helpful....... T |

Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | Hey Mike, If you go to your COPSHOES link and click on OriginalSWAT boots and you will find what my wife and I wear. They were a suggestion from a friend who ride over 30,000 miles every year. We both have the Classsic Side Zips and I used scotchgard on them but they also make a fully waterproof boot similat to the ones you pictured. These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever wore, period. They also have very good grip on the pavement. I used Cruiserworks boots for a few years and they were very slippery on pavement and did not find them good walking shoes. My wife is a hiker/backpacker and she said she could easily use the SWAT boots as hikers they work so well.

Ruskin, Fl | A word of caution before you go with Converse. I was wearing Thorogood *8 side zip tactical boots for work. The best looking, most comfy duty boots I have owned to date, although not waterproof. My department has a new vendor with many choices to pick from on the web. I went with the Converse w/safety toe. They looked like sneakers on the web. I was very surpised when I got them. In person the look like ski boots. The toe does not fit under the Vision shifter (I know I can adjust it) They are not very comfortable either. The are made well and will last for a long time. Just saying to find a store that carries them and look at them in person before you buy on the internet. |

Cruiserworks did have a brief period after the sale of the company when they contracted with a Canadian company to manufacture the boots to their specs using the original dies/lasts. They were severely disappointed with the quality and severed their association with them. There are still some of that stock out there with some dealers. Perhaps you had a pair of those, candubrain. The problem has been solved and they are very happy with the current quality. The Canadian boots will have "Canada" on the size label. Just order from the company and you're okay. In any case they will guaranteewarranty the waterproof claim. I have no assoc. with the co. I just like them. |

| I've been wearing Milwaukee boots for the last couple years, the ones that lace for comfort and have double zippers for convenience.

I keep them mink oiled but haven't had a real drench to test them yet. They break in pretty fast as walking shoes. The only thing I wish they had are steel toes.

I was looking for something not to high up but looked good enough to wear to work (I was in sales) so I could ride to customers instead of taking the cage. Aubrey, TX | thanks for all of the feedback..I did find a tactical shop locally and tried the converse. I did not like the fit as much. I think my next step is to go to the local Bass pro. maybe they will have some in my size. I usually wear a 12W and I see that some of the boots mentioned do not come in that size..which is part of the problem. Appears they carry Danner and some others. I also found these that have the kind of sole I like. I did not want a steel toe..but work out. anybody ever heard of HYTEST..they may be crap? I could not find any reviews of them. |
